“Relaxing stay...”

The Perili Bay Resort is laid out like a Turkish village and overlooks a shingle beach. Some apartments are high up with lots of steps leading up to them. Accommodation was clean with fresh towels each day. The gardens and flowers are beautiful with lots of places to sit and admire the view over the bay. No charge for sun beds on the beach. There were a mixture of Turkish families with small children and babies and German tourists during our stay, but very few English guests. Communication at reception in English is not easy. The children seemed very happy - chasing the kittens and chickens and swimming in the sea. The animation team also provided a mini disco for the children in the evenings. Adult entertainment in the evenings was soul destroying - dreary singers until midnight. The restaurant was generally good for salads and breakfasts, but limited for hot food (although there was a barbecue style meat or fish dish each evening).
The hotel arranged our transfers to and from Dalaman airport by private car, journey time 2 hours. The car was one hour late on our arrival at Dalaman, which meant phoning the non-English speaking hotel reception with the help of a nearby Turkish tour guide.
Boat trips run from directly outside the hotel on its own jetty. An hourly Dolmus into Datca (20km away) takes around 15 mins. If you would like to visit the old village with its little stone houses, you need to ask the driver to stop at Eski Datca. From the main road it takes only a couple of minutes to walk into the village where there are little cafes and stalls selling handicrafts. We walked from Eski Datca along the main road into Datca and it took around 45 mins. In Datca you can book a coach to Marmaris at the Pamukkale ticket office. The coach is an hourly service.
The Saturday market in Datca is worthwhile and quite a large market. We were not pestered to buy spices etc. as we have been at Hisaronu and Fethiye markets. There is a clean public toilet in the centre of Datca (1 turkish lira).
We found this to be a relaxing holiday and enjoyed our two week stay. It is not ideal for non-smokers, as it is hard to get away from cigarette smoke wherever you sit.

Room Tip: We were pleased to have asked for a room with sea-view. We were so close to the sea that we could h...

A lot of what we would want to say has already been said by others so really we are just adding weight to their views.

The location on the Datca peninsula is beautiful with pine covered mountains all around and a lovely view across the bay towards the town of Datca itself and also across to the Greek Island of Simi. The hotel is about 20km from the town and there is very little immediately around it so you could find it a bit isolated. We had a hire car and enjoyed exploring the area and the town.

The hotel itself is quite quirky with the rooms being individually characterised. Ours had plenty of space,a good bathroom and a terrace. There were a few modern features like a flat screen TV (no English channels), air conditioning and a fridge, but the room was furnished in a traditional style rather than being just another European flat pack hotel room.

The beach I would describe as fine gravel rather than sand, with plenty of sun beds available. There is a decent beach bar a few steps off the beach.

The food was a bit of a disappointment, the phrase we arrived at was hit and miss with a few too many misses. There was generally a decent range of Meze type salads, always a soup (even at breakfast!) There were 6 hot dishes each night some much better than others, the bbq grill was generally good.

Generally a good hotel that may be a bit quite for some, it offers a more authentic Turkish experience than most.

Booked through Secret escapes long journey to get there but do able - a good two hour transfer time but worth it if you want seclusion and not be in the middle the hoards in Marmaris. But the isolation may not be everyone's cup of tea so if you like to go out and about you need to hire a car.
The start of the holiday was not good. Arrived at 6.30 am very tired to be given the most terrible room. Do not accept any room behind the restaurant. These are also used to house the staff, which was confirmed on the quiet by one of the managers we got talking to in the bar!! The first room 308 was disgusting, We were then offered two more equally awful rooms before finally getting one more the like the pictures in the Ad, which was fine. Room 60. If we had not been able to move it would have been a disaster. The room was that bad. Cramped, no wardrobe or draws but a weird shelf thing. No headboard, very dark and one window over bed. A stained velour chair. No view. Mouse droppings under the bed, which were discovered after something rolled under the bed and needed to be recovered.Bathroom small cramped, wholes in wall.
We were offered two other rooms but still awful then finally a room that was good.
Large, clean good air conditioning, wardrobe, good views of the sea and balcony and up much higher. the bathroom had a double sink, was large and had a sort of a wet room shower. The resort was lovely with lots of really good rooms so don't know why we we had such a shaky start. Very quirky, a bit like Port Merion.
Pros
I liked the food. Very Turkish so if you like to have food you eat at home might not be for you, Different themed nights fish night, meat was barbecued and very good. Lots of salads. Turkish deserts were delicious. Wine was drinkable but no choice. white, red, rose
Breakfast good
Snacks all through the day. The donuts at 3.30 pm were divine
Massages fab
Pool very good
Beautiful resort
Not many English
Sea wonderful
Very relaxing - apart from odd hiccups and bad start
Young staff all very helpful and polite
idyllic location
WiFi was excellent even got it on the beach
Big comfy chairs on the terrace although you had to be assertive about sitting on them as people tried to leave their towels on whilst they were having dinner
Secluded isolated location
boat trip was great snorkeling and meal on board
Did get money off massages after complaining about room and massages were great had 3
Volley ball was fun
beach sun loungers were good and beach never felt crowed and great views to a little rocky island where we went skinny dipping as no one around on the deserted beach. Used the pedalo to get there!!

Cons
After Ramadan got quite busy and noisy with children especially during the evening meal
If you get a bad room it would be a disaster and stressful at start trying to sort room out
German receptionist needed warming up otherwise at first she came across as rude and unhelpful
Older local bar staff pestered us for the first couple nights
communication - missed boat trip as they didn't book us in so went the on the next one but didn't Knidos as a result
transfer taxi back to airport turned up 1 h 30 minutes late
Holiday rep no sight or sound despite trying to contact
Tried to charge us for using pedalo although nothing to say you have to pay and all inclusive package!!
Resort didn't seem to be aware of what the Secrets Escapes package included and Secrets Escapes doesn't send you all the details in the ad when you book so print the page of the ad!

Would definitely go back but would need to check that we had a decent room and would probably try to go before Ramadan finished. If staying longer than a week hire a car or you might go a bit stir crazy. Datca itself was a bit of a non event,

We booked through Secret Escapes and stayed for a week. Although this was previously a Sunsail location, there are now no water sports and almost no Brits. Without a car we were fine for a week, any longer and we'd have gone stir crazy.
It's a beautiful location, which you really appreciate if you go on one of the boat trips (take seasickness pills if you suffer at all as what seems calm in the morning becomes quite choppy when the afternoon winds get up). Ours stopped for swims and a wander round a harbour. The lunch they served up was great too.
We had some problems. Having booked Secret Escapes, this was a 'Just Sunshine' holiday, but at the resort the company supposedly dealing with us (we never saw anyone) was 'InShore'. At the resort they seemed not to know the terms of the offer we had booked, so we were offered not just one dire and tiny room, but three, before getting the standard advertised. This all took some time to sort out - the first room at least was staff accommodation, a manger confided later. As a result we wasted the first half day of the holiday. They also had no idea about the offers included by Secret Escapes and not all of this was in the email confirmation. We showed what I could find on the (lapsed) offer on the Internet but the supposed a la carte meal with bottle of wine in the offer we were unable to prove as it wasn't in the information sent out to us or on the Internet. Moral of the story - print out the Internet page at the time of booking.

When we texted the InShore rep as per the instructions in the handout we were given at the airport, we had no reply. When the nice receptionist at the resort phoned InShore with a query, she was called 'stupid'; she was upset, however she and colleagues confirmed they were often treated rudely in this way by InShore.
A lack of communication was a problem here at the resort on a number of occasions. One day we took out a pedalo. When we got back we were told we had to pay for the time we'd had them plus a fine, since they didn't know for sure how long we'd been out. However, since this was an all inclusive holiday - with some exceptions in the guide in our room, and pedalos was not one of these - and there were no signs at the beach near the pedalos or anywhere else, we argued that we could not have known. Eventually, the amount was removed from our bill, but this was an unpleasant episode as we were made to feel that we had deliberately tried to take the pedalo out.
Finally, at the end of the holiday there was confusion about our pickup time from the resort, which involved worry for us about being late to the airport as the taxi did not arrive for an hour or hour and a half after the arranged time. Since the temperature was over 30, this meant hanging about in the sun (until we escaped to a covered area from where an employee came and fetched us).

Overall we loved this holiday, it was chilled and there was really nothing else there to do but relax. We would go again, and would recommend it, but with reservations which boil down to a lack of communication.

On the positive side, when we spoke to the manager of the resort about that first day, he offered money off our massages. The staff were generally helpful and friendly. The food was excellent. We loved our final room. It is a beautiful spot and all the better for being largely undiscovered by the English. And the buildings in the resort are amazing - full of character and charm.

We stayed in the Perili Bay Resort for a week at the beginning of July 2013, having booked it through Secret Escapes, where it had been sold to us as a five star all inclusive. The resort was very pretty and was in a beautiful location - right on the beach.

The room we had was very shabby - the curtains were falling off the curtain polls, the shower didn't fix to the wall properly and the windows were absolutely filthy. It was like a bun fight at the zoo during meal times - lots of pushing and shoving to get to the counter, only to be disappointed by what was on offer. If you stay the week you are offered a la carte for one night of your stay - don't bother - a la carte consisted of a few bits that were from the main buffet for starter, then a choice of donner kebab or chicken kebab, and getting a drink was almost impossible as the one waiter kept disappear (I assume this was to bring food from the buffet). There was no waiter service at the bar - and when you had more that three alcholic drinks you were made to feel like a lush. My husband tried to order a couple of cocktails but was refused even though they had all the ingredients to make them - they just couldn't be bothered.

Definately will not be going back.

I am a travelagent and stayed in this hotel for my own holiday.

Perili Bay is quiet situated, nice surroundings, wonderfull view. About 15 minutes walk from main road. No little villages or shops you can walk to.
At the entrance you can get a bus to Datca for 5 ira 2 euro per person one way. 20 minutes drive. On Saturday a big market in Datca. Datca not very big, nice harbour where you also can book boattrips. A lot of restaurants at the harbour with fresh fish.
In Datca you can take the bus to Knidos. At the reception you can order the bus to Marmaris takes about a hour. The hotel offers boat excursions several days a week. Also a boat to Bodrum. I advise to rent a car if you want to see more of the surroundings.

Reception: overall helpfull. German woman moody.

Bar, Restaurant staff nice. On Sunday we had a Turkish evening what was very nice, good food and nice music. One night there was a fish evening this was also nice. The next week we had again a Turkish evening but this wasn't good. The food is okay but not excellent. A lot the same not very hot. It was tastefull but not much choice. Turkish food. The snacks after lunch are great. Chips, turkish pizza, little donuts, spaghetti so if you like more european food take your lunch at 3 pm.

Room was good. We had to go up a stair had a big terrass here you came into the bathroom. Bathroom the shower was a disaster everything gets wet. Upstairs we had a balcony. From the bed you had a view over the sea that was really nice. You only could sit outside in the morning because the sun was on your balcony and terrass the rest of the day. All the rooms in the hotel are different.

There is a hammam for free we didn't use it, spa and fitness. Some animation at the swimming pool but not very loud music. A lot of people with children, childrens club. Not much Dutch people, we were the only ones together with an other couple. Some English some German. At the time we went there were a lot of Turkish people.

A couple of times a week live music (guitarist) depressive music. In the evening the guest are doing a lot of games. The atmosphere I really liked. Not a big hotel and you have contact with other people easily.

I recommend this hotel if you want to have a week of peace and quiet.

Room Tip: we had room 91. Different rooms and different sizes. Ask for a room with seaview. Not a room behind...

The weather and the location is pretty nice but the service and the food is terrible. I complained but nobody seemed to care. I told the chef, would you eat yourself? He was silent. I tried many dishes but non of them had any taste. There is a shortage of service people I guess, as the service is not satisfactory. If the service and the food were nice, this would have been my favorite small resort.
