We have been visitors to Villa Kiydan on nine occasions over the last 5 years, often twice a year. We have noticed, as have several other frequent attenders that standards have slipped. The atmosphere at the Kiydan is created by the guests, not the hosts. All that Onur and family are interested in now is making money. Granted it is a business but subtlety is not one of their strong points. Possibly lost in translation is the statements, " You WILL come to dinner or you WILL go boat trip". An example as experienced by us and others is on arrival being invited to the bar for a drink only to find the following day that "the drink" is added to your bill.
My last post re Villa Kiydan was prompted by Onur in May when he asked me to promote the changes that he had planned. Sadly these have not come to fruition, which made me feel like I had been played.
One of the frequent complaints we had from patrons was the lack of prices and fluctuating prices. ie in the welcome information pack beers are priced at 5 TL whereas they are charged at 7TL. This has been pointed out to Onur by several guests over several months and despite assurances that it would be corrected it has not.
Hiring the boat for a boat trip used to cost 600TL which with 10 passengers amounted to 60TL per person although our trip had 13 passengers but were still charged 60TL.
Having spent 11 weeks in total this year, May, June August September and October we have witnessed the whole gamut. From being the only visitors to searching for a sun bed. At its peak Onur seemed harassed and out of his depth. In the past it was a pleasure to have lunch at Kiydan usually cooked by Mrs Kiydan, now it seems any food is brought from the town. A real shame.
The property from the outside is well maintained but inside it is becoming weary. Electrics could be upgraded, ovens, microwaves etc. will be provided (If asked for). To our cost the smoke alarms have been removed and there are no (no smoking) signs posted in the rooms. Not that we are smokers just an unfortunate incident with an over boiled pot but it was treated like Chernobyl by the family, leaving my partner in tears. Is this good customer relations? I think not. A forced apology and a bottle of red does not really cut it.
Remember when paying to have the correct change as if you are short he will not forget but if you overpay he will forget and I can quote several people having the same problem. All about money but well, they are building a new boat and a few extra villas
As such, like others we will vote with our feet.
We will not be back.
