If you're visiting by boat trip you'll probably only get to see the tombs from a distance, but if you're in Dalyan get the old girls to row you across the river for 4 lira and take a walk along the path to the ruins of Kaunos. The rock tombs are in an area that's actually fenced off, but just after the muslim cemetary there's a path up to a gate and if you're lucky it won't be padlocked <wink>. Try to ignore the sign saying 'No Entrance' and then follow the goat path up. It's not a difficult climb up, just a steady goat track. The views from the tombs are great, with the meandering river flowing past Dalyan. The tombs are only a few metres deep but worth the climb......

These tombs are fascinating cut into the rock face at points along the river.you can cross the river to take a closer although you cannot go right up to them. The ones close to town are floodlit at night. You get a nice view of them from the roof terrace of the White House restaurant and the selection of riverside restaurants which adds atmosphere to your meal.

Here again is a wonderful part of this little town Dalyan. While you are walking along the river you can see the tombs. The best way to get close is to have a boat trip and they will take you as near as you wont. It is a wonderful part of of Turkish history and a trade mark of Dalyan.

Accessing the tombs by boat cost 4 lira each way. You need to wear a strong pair of shoes as the path is rocky. The actual tombs are closed and can be viewed easily from the river side at Dalyan
