Nice day out - gentle stroll up to Kanous after an eventful row across the river. Try a pancake when you get back the jetty to depart!!!hmmm pretty good

“Kaunos, also worthwhile as a natural reserve!”
Reviewed October 2, 2012

We have been visiting Kaunos ever since we first came to Turkey in 1994. It is an extensive site, most of which is accepted as being part of its natural surrounding. It is only in the past few years that they have started "over-beautifying" the place.

Many visitors appreciate the remains from antiquity and the views from the acropolis and amphitheatre, which are indeed splendid. The reason for us to go back at least once a year is that the fact that the site is restricted also means it has remained a natural reserve for birds, reptiles, amphibians and insects. For those who like to film and photograph, it is a place where you can wander and appreciate nature at leisure.
Of course stone reflects heat, so best go in spring or autumn and not at the heat of a summer day!

“Atmospheric site”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

Limited information and little shade, but toilets and refreshments on site. Extensive ruins including well preserved amphitheatre with views back along the river to Dalyan and across to the sea.

Lovely day out, fab views, good exercise walking up and around the site, take plenty of water and suncream! There are places to get a drink there. Very interesting and good value for money!
