Gareth and I have been to the Hotel Calbis many times. This year 2010 we brought our good friends Gill and Andy to introduce them to what we consider to be a holiday paradise. We were counting down the days until our return and very excitedly boarded the plane at Ldn Gatwick knowing that we would be met at the Dalaman by Mehmet or one of the staff. Stepping out of the airport there was Mehmet waiting patiently for us and soon we sped off along the familiar roads to Dalyan and Hotel Calbis.
Why do I start with the obvious? Because that's where the hospitality of Hotel Calbis begins. A friendlly welcome and lovely smile, we know we are 'home again.' It doesn't end there, every member of staff makes us feel so welcome and those that recognise us, greet us as 'family members' and that's how we feel about the whole of the Calbis staff, our extended family / friends.

To holiday at The Calbis is not just about having a holiday in Turkey or Dalyan it's about embracing all the best and positive things in the world. It's where people meet and forge friendships that last for many years. Who could ask for more?

Walking into the lovely foyeur is the beginning of wow factor and stepping into the grounds and taking a look at the surroundings is a wonderful feeling. At night, the garden and pool are beautifully lit and we all marvel at The Calbis' magical world.

The grounds are maintained by a dedicated team of staff who work tirelessly to keep the gardens, shrubs and trees in perfect condition. They manage the pools and keep them spotlessly clean.
The kitchen staff also provide as many 'home comforts' as they can and are always willing to help. The breakfast is a self service buffet meal and there is always variety with plenty to eat and drink.
The cleaning staff maintain a very high standard in keeping the rooms clean with linen and towels being replenished regularly. Throughout the complex they work hard to keep the hotel looking in tip top condition.
No review would be complete without mentioning the bar staff, who strive to satisfy each customers demands and who willingly stay up until the last guest has decided to go to bed. They have a lovely sense of humour and quickly make everyone feel at home and settled.

So there must be a downside, no where can be this perfect. Well the downside is that you will read my review and decide to holiday at the hotel and our own perfect place will be found by another person/s. Trust me, you cannot go wrong if you choose The Calbis.
Will shall be booking to go again next year; so if you want a quiet holiday away from the noisy ones, avoid the 1st two weeks in September! If not we look forward to meeting you.
Thank you Gokmen and all the staff for another wonderful holiday.
Sandy

This was our second stay at Holiday Calbis, and it was just as excellent as the first time. Mehmet met us at the Airport and a lovely holiday started.
It is a family run hotel, Gokmen and his family are always around, and this shows in the welcome you receive and the attention to detail.
The gardens are lovely with two large pools and plenty of space for lazing about. The excellent breakfast is served in the poolside restaurant, offering a very good selection of cereals, fruit, cheese, cold meats, a hot dish, and eggs to order. A minor quibble from me - the coffee is instant.
The two pools are much better than usually available in a hotel of this price. Both are big enough for serious swimming or splashing about. They are impeccably clean. There is a small childrens pool too. There are ample sunbeds and shade.
The rooms are very good. We had rooms on the first floor facing the pool. They are very adequate with a balcony and excellent shower room. Again kept impeccably clean.
All the staff are very pleasant and always go out of their way to be helpful.
The set meal in the evening is very good value, but we usually went into town on the hotel shuttle bus at 7pm, where there is a great variety of excellent eateries.
Dalyan and its surroundings offer so much. From a marvellous beach - Istuzu Beach, to history and a lovely, rugged coastline. There are no high rise hotels, so Dalyan is a very laid back relaxing small town.

The reviews (as excellent as they are) don't do justice to what an amazing gem of a hidden paradise this hotel is!! The staff, (Mehmet and Boris especially) food, rooms and maid service are second to none. The location is perfect, 10 mins walk to Dalyan, 3 mins to the local shop for water.

Brilliant tours are the best, heard from people in Dalyan that other tour operators had accidents on jeep safaris and Ali, the tour guide, amused us with his 'Dear Guests' at the start of every sentence, we especially liked the Saklikent gorge tour. The jazz bar is cool and next door is an authentic pancake house, a must see. Don't forget to book Ley Ley's Turkish night direct, they pick you up and return you to the hotel whenever you like. Very funny belly dancing involving the customers.

There was one particular restaurant through the centre from Calbis, out the other side which boasted, 'No tv, hassling waiters, football' which serves the most amazing shish kebab, bream and sea bass straight from the grill, yum!! Really........ trust what everyone says and do NOT hesitate to book this hotel. I will definitely be back :) x

my husband and I have travelled worldwide but have kept coming back to Turkey for over 20 years,7 years ago we found Dalyan and fell in love with this wonderful place .There are several good hotels in Dalyan but the Calbis excels, the standard of cleanliness is superb ,and the staff work extremely hard to maintain a high standard , There are two beautiful pools set in the lovliest of gardens ,The hotel is a slow stroll along a flat road , into the town, approx 7 minutes to the harbour ,or you can always take the hotel curtesy bus .We love it so much we are returning in September with friends.Dalyan truly is an unspoilt paradise !!

We had a fab time here end of July/ start of August.

The shower in the bedroom was amazing- so unlike most dribbles you experience elsewhere! We ate in most lunchtimes- good selection of bar snacks.

2 good sized pools and a 10/15 minute dander into the town.

Thanks to all the staff for a lovely week!

Having read all the fabulous reviews before going, we had high expectations of the Calbis.
And it lived up to them! Ok, there may be a few tiny things you could nit-pick about but at the end of the day, this is a 3 star hotel, at a 3 star price, offering near 5 star standards.
Gorgeous pools, great staff, nice rooms, good food and a genuine welcome.
Our only point would be to note that not all rooms have been fully re-furbished. My friend was origninally allocated Rm 103 which was small and tatty, with a poor shower and sockets hanging out the wall. She complained and was immediately moved to another room so it didn't turn out to be a problem - but if you get key 103 on arrival, ask for a different one!
We'd certainly go back and met many guests who were there for the 3rd or 4th time. Really chilled out atmosphere and ideal location, just 10mins walk from town.

We've just got back from two weeks at the Hotel Holiday Calbis. What a fabulous hotel and a brilliant resort. We did quite a lot of research before booking the holiday (mainly on Trip Advisor), but boy! did it pay off. Since being back home and speaking to friends, also recently returned from holidays in the Med, we totally lucked out with our choice. Our biggest fear was arriving at a resort and finding ourselves in Little England with palm trees. Dalyan isn't like that - or at least, it isn't yet. Don't get me wrong, the town is totally geared up for tourists, predominantly British and German, but the signs for "get your English Fry here" and the ubiquitous football bars and pubs are thankfully few and far between. You won't find hen parties and stag do's in Dalyan - it is very much a family resort. Our children are 7 and 9 and I would say, at the time we went, they were very much at the lower end of the age spectrum. There seemed to be a lot of families with teenage kids (perhaps on their last family holiday). It's a great place whatever the age of your children but I can see the attraction for parents of teenagers. The resort feels very safe and laid back, you could happily cut your teenage child some slack and let them go out in a group at night. We saw this a few times. Always well behaved, drinking non-alcoholic drinks and every one of them well groomed to within an inch of their lives. Your teenage years should be about having fun, and not being demonized for one thing or another - I think Dalyan just allows everyone to kick back.

Onto the Calbis - what a truly lovely hotel. The owner, Gokmen, is such a genuine guy and has every reason to be very proud of the hotel he's developed. He clearly has an excellent team around him - friendly, helpful, unobtrusive. It was the perfect place to unwind. The pool area and the gardens are meticulously maintained. As a rule, we're not a family who enjoy doing nothing around a pool - but I would make an exception for the Calbis. We had some lovely, lazy days relaxing around the pool. The kids hooked up with other children and were in an out of the pool and the TV/Computer/Library room all day long. The sun lounger situation was, however, quite farcical - we left the hotel early one morning (6.30am) to go turtle watching, only to see a few sheepish guest, armed with beach towels, laying claim to their loungers. Gokmen brought in extra sun loungers and I'm sure there will be even more loungers next year. But what can he do - it all becomes self-perpetuating. I confess, towards the end of the holiday, if we were going to have a pool day, I'd set the alarm for 7.15am then kick hubby out of bed, fuzzy headed and half asleep, arm him with the beach towels, point him in the direction of the pool and whisper the encouraging words "Go get 'em, Tiger!". We didn't find the situation annoying. It was what it was - amusing if nothing else - an interesting display of human behaviour.

During our stay, I did peak into the grounds of other hotels - they just didn't seem a patch on the Calbis. I liked the fact that the hotel was not right in the centre of town. For those feeling particularly lazy, the hotel laid on a 7pm bus to take you into town - but it was only a ten minute walk, not exactly an arduous trek.

We did a few trips while we were on holiday. One of which was organised by the Calbis. It was excellent and far exceeded expectations. It was an afternoon boat trip to the beach. First we stopped off for a dip in the sea water lakes (jumping off the boats etc ), before mooring at the very quiet end of the beach. We had time at the beach before Captain Ali and his team prepared the BBQ. It was possibly my favourite meal of the holiday. I'm veggie, but my husband and carnivorous son informed me that all the BBQ meat was delicious. For me, the salads won the day. We then strolled along the beach, watching the sun set (beautiful), before heading home. For a family of 4 it cost us 150TL (£66). It represented great value. On average, your evening meal in Dalyan will cost you about 100TL a night. So for a few TL more you can have a fab day out with great food thrown in. Most of the trips were about 150TL. There's a great boat called The Olive Lounge (all white), very friendly captain. We went snorkeling around the caves - brilliant day, great food - only 150TL. We also hired our own boat (with a captain) for the day and went all around the fresh water lake and mud baths (again 150TL). The Jeep Safari was also excellent - we went with Brilliant Tours and our driver was Ike - very funny, knowledgeable guy - prepared to get soaked (also 150TL).

All in all, it was a fantastic two weeks.

A massive thanks to Gokmen and all at the Calbis Hotel. What a great place to stay. My advice would be to book early.
