“Generic resort feel”
Reviewed June 15, 2013 via mobile

Grounds were beautiful....best part of the place. Food was geared toward the German speaking guests. At least 90% were german seniors, which did make for a quieter stay. We were dissappointed with the buffet which did not represent turkish food so much as german food. In fact the whole place just didnt feel at all turkish.just a nice generic resort. Walk into was fine pleasant walk but a shuttle service a few times a day would be good. Boat ride to turtle beach was pleasant and free. Room was nothing special but not bad. All in all a nice place with no obvious negatives but i don't think we would go back.

A few problems to start of with, noticed ants in the bedroom as soon as we arrived but sorted within minutes of telling reception. Then after the 3 of us had showers one after the other the water was not draining away, again sorted immediately. The main problem was the air conditioning which would only run for 30 minutes at most then turn itself off. So the first night was sleepless. Again as soon as we spoke to Reception along came Ali to sort it out. All sorted for the next night but then started doing the same thing again. This time we were offered a different room as unit needed engineer to visit. A different unit was fitted and then all was fine. Can't fault the hotel for their service and think we were just unlucky. The staff worked tirelessly to try to make sure you are happy. A few seem less communicative due to language problems but we tried hard to communicate and to be honest some visitors were down right rude to them just by body language. One tip ~ it is not completely clear that fresh orange and pomegranite juice is not included in breakfast. We got caught out the first morning and after serving ourselves along came a waiter asking for our room no. to add to our bill. There is a quicker route into Dalyan which only takes 15 mins but in the heat of the day is hard going. Plenty of people strolled into Dalyan after dinner and its worth the walk to see the shops, wander along the river front, look in a few shops and stop for a drink or eat out if you want a change and also to see and hear the Mosque. Dinner choice is quite good, they do a good salad bar and desserts are yummy. Main meal is a bit more reserved but generally plenty to choose from. Don't book trips through Travel Rep, Cosmos use Brilliant Tours and its cheaper booking direct in Dalyan, just round the corner from the turtle fountain, they still collect you from hotel and Ali will take you across the river in his rowing boat so you can get to Kaunos Ruins. Recommend the 12 Island trip. Didn't bother with the mud baths as we were told its only 6 inches of mud. We also hired a car and had no problem parking at the front of the hotel. Yes there is a sign asking you not to bring in food and drink from outside, if they looked in my suitcase they would have found a bottle of water and a packet of biscuits! Pool area was immaculate, towels are put out and if none left that dear man Ali will bring you one. Plenty of room around the pool and gardens, no one seemed to put down towels to reserve sunbed. Lunch menu at Restaurant is fine, enough to choose from, from Pizza, pasta, salads, hamburgers etc. I hope the owner realises just how hard his staff work. They work long hours and have one day off a week. We only spotted 2 children while we were there, wouldn't recommend for children over 6 as it is very peaceful and possibly couldn't let their hair down and have a good run around. Can only charge electric items when in room as electric is off when key fob is removed and you go out. Safe is free. Would we go again, definitely!!

Room Tip: More room in a suite but bed in lounge area is a rock hard sofa bed. Main bed was huge, very comfort...

Have stayed here before, the location and gardens are outstanding it is lovely to watch the boats passing up and down the river and the grounds are beautifully kept with lots of nice places to relax and watch the world go by, the food is good with plenty of choice to cover most tastes, so what's the but.... Well the staff are very pleasant but sadly It is on the surface I spoke to many of them and they all said they did not like working there and felt under constant pressure due to the owner and family been on the scene scrutinising them and that the atmosphere behind the scenes was not a happy one which is a shame as they seem like they are a good team of people, Ali is great as ever and so is Erike we were disappointed that he was not allowed on the boat trip that we had booked as we know we would have enjoyed it so much more if he had been there.
Also the rooms are very dark with small windows, we had a delux room that was for a family and the room that my son was in prompted this comment from him " I think this is what a cell is like " It was very cramped and pokey and had no window and was so stiflingly that the air conditioning was always on when we were in the room and it's not the high season yet. It is a bit of a trek into town if your not too mobile I felt for some of the more mature ladies and gents who found it a bit far to go after dinner on an evening but the good side to this is that the hotel is very quiet and your not disturbed by loud music, cars and late night revellers if you like a peaceful holiday.Do make the trip to Istuzu beach and visit the turtle centre the road there is very pretty and the beach is nicer that turtle beach where all the river boats go, a trip to Kaunos over the river is a must do,its fabulous and we really enjoyed it. Give the mud baths a miss there are so many people and your hearded about like sheep. Hire a car and get out and about there is so much to see off the beaten track. Have a great holiday.

Room Tip: Have seen them all and they are all dark with small windows,go for one with a patio at the front of...

The grounds are the best part of this place--gardens along the river, large pool area, etc., but it all feels institutional (the list of pool rules is daunting). The rooms are barely average, the food is prepared as if for senior citizens rushing for the 6:00 pm bargain in North Miami Beach, and the staff at the front desk are...well, I'll be kind and say that they are indifferent. All of this is too bad because the town itself is worth visiting. There is a lovely promenade along the river and many restaurants and cafés, and the beach accessible by boat from the hotel or town--or by driving--is a turtle reserve and worth seeing. So, if you decide to stay here, avoid the demi-pension option, have your breakfast at the pool and take the ten minute walk (or three minute drive) to Dalyan.

Most relaxing holiday my wife and i ever had.
The room was clean and large enough for us. The bathroom was clean and the shower was powerful.
Food is nice. Asked for melon at breakfast and were informed that the budget would not allow it this week.
Great having no really young screaming kids around.
The bar prices were similar to the bars in the town. 7.5TL for a large beer. 6 or 7 in the town.
Ali kept the poolside clean and tidy. Ibraheem was a nice barman. Very happy to help.
Definitely come again.
The average age is around 60 I would say.

Room Tip: Ask for poolside.

Dalyan is one of the nicest towns you could possibly ever travel to, and I would highly recommend it. We have now been four times and we love it. Unfortunately our latest visit was ruined by choosing to stay at this hotel. The service is non-existent. We stayed for 2 weeks and the only time the staff engaged with us was when 1. They needed us to sign for something (usually when we were half way through eating it) 2. They were chasing after us through reception and attempting to confiscate the water we had bought up the road or 3. When 'Eric' was consistently trying to sell us a day trip - Initially we thought he was very helpful and informative, but he doesn't stop pestering you. At breakfast, by the pool (once slapping me on the cheeks from behind to wake me up), at dinner and by the bar. By the 2nd week he stops talking to you though, when he realises you are not going to book a trip, so an amusing past time for us and two other couples we got to know became 'Eric watching' as he preyed on new guests, circling around them at the bar waiting for his opportunity to pounce with the offer of free popcorn. I couldn't possibly go into detail on all the other issues we experienced as it would take too long but highlights include:
Waiting 15 minutes for our table to be laid at dinner, whilst the owners son sat 2 yards away drinking and chatting with friends - eventually I had to collect napkins, cutlery etc myself so we could eat
Cold burger and chips for lunch which they refused to replace
A Caesar salad which consists of lettuce with chicken on top
No water in our room for a day
Coming back to our table after collecting our meals from the dinner buffet to find our table had been cleared

Despite all the service issues though, which in the most part could possibly be attributed to bad or non-existent staff training/owners not caring/our bad luck, the main problem with this hotel is that they take EVERY opportunity to rip you off. The cost of a bottle of water in Dalyan = TL0.35 Dalyan Resort = TL6.00. The cost of a bottle of tonic in Dalyan = TL1.2 Dalyan resort = TL20 (Just to be clear that is £7 - FOR A BOTTLE OF SCWEPPES TONIC WATER!!) - the main issue with this is that they absolutely refuse to let you bring drinks into the hotel from outside, so effectively they are saying, if you want to use the facilities that you have already paid for (pool, sunbeds, garden etc.) and not dehydrate, you have to pay 15+ times what you could pay up the road. This is irresponsible and demonstrates absolute contempt for your guests.

Dalyan is great. If you haven't been before I couldn't recommend it highly enough. Just don't stay in this hotel - by the time time you have paid for the odd lunch/waters etc. you may as well have hired a villa (We've done the maths, I'm not joking!)

The Dalyan resort staff were very friendly , the hotel was very clean, the food fine , if a little samey and the location good . Our problem was with the room . We had booked a room with a terrace and unfortunately after arriving late at night were given a nice room but no terrace or balcony. On tackling reception the next morning we were given the choice of two rooms with terraces both overlooking the half built extension ,. On objecting we were told that there would be no work going on while we were there .It seemed to be that or nothing and stupidly, we gave in . My advice to anyone in the same situation is don't even consider them , we deserved better and so do you !

Room Tip: Terrace room with a river view
