We loved Dalyan and can totally understand why people recommend it so highly. We will definitely being going back to Dalyan.
However BC Sap are apparently on a 4 year construction program and it will be complete when the current 28 rooms have been increased to 64. The construction work starts at 8am and finishes at 6pm. The only way to avoid the noise, dust and dirt is to go out and stay out all day.
We could not open the windows, sit on the balcony or put out a swimming costume to dry during this period otherwise it was covered in rough concrete dust.
The maids work really hard and the rooms are clean (providing you keep the windows closed), however lots of other areas are disgustingly dirty. I have attached just a few of the photos to demonstrate this.
The underground spa area looked nice but for the whole of our stay the steam rooms system was out of order and the indoor pool and Jacuzzi where cold.
I have tried to be fare and so have given it 1 star for a clean room and 1 star for the poor staff who have to work so hard to try and make up for everything else.
Photo 1 – rooms that were occupied by guest that had a close up view of the building works – not quite what you expect when you dream of your holiday
Photo 2 – view from the room of builders and JCB – would you want to sit, relax and read a book on this balcony
Photo 3 and 4 – restaurant under construction with people having to eat breakfast in the middle of it
Photo 5 - breakfast we were given when we said we did not want to eat breakfast surrounded by the restaurant building works. No drink, fruit or anything else to go with it. Not my idea of a 4 star breakfast
Photo 6 – state of the path between the restaurant and the terrace seating area – note the glass
Photo 7 – dirty floor on terrace seating area
Photo 8 – fealty bean bag seating area that looked so good on the internet but was so poor in reality
Photo 9 – 1 of 2 boards saying that anyone could use the facilities
Photo 10 – plug in our room, apparently the room will be finished soon
I have more photos, but I think that is probably enough to give you an idea of why we would not recommend it for the next 4 years until the hotel construction is finished.
