“Great hotel”
Reviewed September 15, 2013

Just returned from this amazing hotel, (and booked again for next year) thank you to Mert and family for making it such a great holiday, and Haydar the bar manager, and Thomas and Eddie at the restaurant who were all fantastic, as were all the staff at the hotel, and the cleaners who did the best job. Met some lovely people, both British and Dutch.

Just returned from this stunning resort! Wow! Dalyan! A beautiful place which has so much to offer! Arrived in late hours of the morning with our rooms ready and lit up waiting for us. . . Slept briefly but only because I was too keen to see what this place had to offer!
Fabulous people who work here! Haydar (barman), Thomas, eddy, ali, . . . All great people.
The cleaners - brilliant. Work so hard and probably the best I have seen in all my years of travelling to turkey.
The pool - marvelous! Always quiet, always loungers available, pool very, very clean. . . Can even swim in moonlight!
Atmosphere - very, very relaxed. . . Its not for your 'rowdy' brits - but that's what I like- even at 29 years old, its peaceful and tranquil. . . No loud music.
Food - well, depends on what you want. Its a bed and breakfast basis, very much Turkish breakfasts but still lovely, staff are always on hand to make sure everything is fresh.
Drinks/prices - they only sell Tuborg lager, which, was my only downside as I like Efes, but hey, I won't complain! A large beer is 7 lira, which compared to a lot of restaurants, Is a very reasonable price in this current climate.
People - fabulous! I have met some brilliant people! Graham and Steve (if you read this, please get in touch! We forgot to exchange emails!), jacqui, Dave and family, cherry and Simon - lovely! Made a fantastic holiday and really good, genuinely nice people.

Overall, I have never had such a wow factor of a holiday! I intend on returning next year!

Thanks to Mert and his family for a brilliant holiday!

Biggest only problem, mosquitos! I was bitten over 100 times, but to be expected when you are right adjacent to a river! But plenty of repellent and antiseptic cream works wonders - this certainly, won't put me off returning!

We have just come back from or second visit to this fantastic hotel this year. This our 3rd vsiit & are in process of booking our next trip there next June!!! Merte the manager & his parents & staff are truly delightful & so welcoming, that we immediately felt relaxed & at home!! The Hotel is very clean and well maintained, the rooms are cool and whilst not the height of luxury they are comfortable with good storage space and great showers with plenty of hot water, plus efficient air conditioning which ensured we always had a good nights sleep!!! Hedar ,the pool bar manager who was a great character, always cheerful and friendly & ALWAYS has a such a wonderful smile that goes right up to his eyes!!!!! Just like Tomas & Eddie, who run the riverside restaurant are just amazing & know instinctively what we like!!! Nothing was too much trouble for all the staff. The setting is beautiful and peaceful, we loved the riverside restaurant & rest area, and was amazing to see 'rush hour' 9-9.30am when ALL the boats are going up or down river etc. The hammock was well used too, and there are plenty of sun-loungers and a great pool. Can't wait to return!!! & Many thanks to Merte & ALL his staff from Lizz & Robert Lewis

Room Tip: Good news is that there are NO televisions!!!!!!!

Just returned from a lovely one week holiday at this great little hotel. We booked this hotel on recommendation from friends who had also stayed there in June and said how much they had enjoyed it, we were not disappointed. Our room was on the first floor overlooking the pool, it was like a mini suite which was spacious and bright. It was cleaned every day and one day the bed was decorated with rose petals and the towels were arranged as hearts which we thought was a nice touch. The only downside to the room was the lack of power efficiency of the air conditioning unit.

The pool area and gardens were very nice with plenty of sun loungers.

The bar area was a great place to sit and relax and make new friends and was expertly run by Hayda the barman who was a great character, always cheerful and friendly.

We enjoyed a lovely moonlit cruise up the Dalayan river with a BBQ on board and a stop off at the mud baths on the return journey organised by Thomas who we found very helpful and pleasant. Would recommend this cruise it's a really nice and chilled way to spend an evening.

The conclusion to the holiday could have been better if late check out was available. Our transfer from the hotel was not until 9.30pm and checkout was at 12.00pm, although this was extended to 3.00pm we still had several hours without the use of shower facilities, which made our last few hours in the resort hot and uncomfortable.

Efficiency entirely lacking at this hotel - We had booked a day room here, after a two week holiday in a villa (so we had some where to rest and to keep our bags before our night flight).

When we arrived our booking seemed to have been lost - We were told a room could be made available for us later in the day.

We left our luggage in reception - which they said would be moved to the room when it was available.

We returned late afternoon to shower and change and have dinner - only to find our bags still sat in reception (which as we observed was not manned constantly).

As stated by one of the other reviewers - this hotel is driven by tour company bookings and does not seem interested in individual independent customer service

My advice look elsewhere unless you are with a tour operator, this place wont care about you if you are an independent traveler.

Dear Sir
Our check-in time is 13:00 in the afternoon. So if you show up at 9 o'clock in the morning, you have to wait untill check-in time when hotel is fully booked. It will be same with any other hotels.
And you even didnt stay in our hotel for a night, so I dont think you have any right to write a review.

Kind Regards

We have just returned from a ten day stay at The Calypso Plus and I can only echo what other reviewers have said, namely an excellent and very hard-working staff with a special mention to Haydar, Eddy and Thomas, all of whom are so helpful (and very entertaining too); the Hotel is very clean and well maintained, the rooms are cool and whilst not the height of luxury they are comfortable with good storage space and great showers with plenty of hot water; the setting is beautiful and peaceful, we loved the jetty and the two "huts" (we called them the Shisha huts) stuffed with cushions which are perfect for lolling about in, eating lunch, reading etc. The hammock was well used too, and there are plenty of sun-loungers and a great pool. Dalyan is only a short stroll along the river path and whilst the main strip is rather noisy and hot, there are lovely restaurants to be discovered away from it and also down by the river (with great views of the Lycian Tombs which are lit up at night). We came away feeling really sad our holiday was over but totally relaxed, the atmosphere of the hotel is so good and, as I said, all of the staff are fantastic. We will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Get a 2nd floor room slightly away from the pool if possible, there are only two floors anyway but s...

Returned Calypso 10th August. Perfect holiday. Can honestly say apart from a bit of a blip with our air con on the arrival we could nt fault a thing. Our first room 303 was very nice but it got the sun all day & the air con did nt seem powerful enough. However Mert, the manager moved us to a much cooler room the next morning. The breakfast was fine, just what you would expect in Turkey. The hotel & gardens were very well maintained & all the staff were lovely. Especially, Thomas & Hadar . The food in the restaurant was so nice & the setting so lovely that we only ate out three times in our fortnights stay. The evening boat barbecue to the lake was exceptional. Lovely food & atmosphere on board & a stop at the mud baths on the way back. The hotel is only a few minutes walk from Dalyan harbour & town .Loved watching the boats in the mornings while hubby sat & read his paper. Twice during our stay our bed was decorated with the towels made into turtles, hearts & rosettes with flowers. A lovely touch. Lovely sitting on the cushioned jetty & feeding the fish too. All in all a perfect holiday & we shall return. Thanks again to all the staff at this hotel who do their utmost to please. Don t come expecting 5 star luxury. That's not what this hotel is about but if you want a lovely holiday in beautiful surroundings then do go. We loved it. Outside of the hotel the harbour & town are lovely . There are some excellent retaurants & bars. Caunos is worth a visit too.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms around the pool get the sun all day. The rear facing rooms are cooler. Wehad room...
