Returned to Dalyan after 18 years and delighted to find still wonderfully charming and unique (despite being really large resort now) and the locals just can't do enough for you. Just returned home (27 July 2012) after 2 most pleasurable weeks. Had read trip advisor reviews before booking this Hotel and can confirm they have all proved accurate even to the point that Simply Travel (part of Thomson group) also forgot to pick us up to take to the airport. Again thanks to excellent hotel staff who quickly arranged alternative transport. We did not see our rep at all - very poor indeed and even more so had this been our first visit to Dalayan. All hotel staff extremely friendly and helpful with great sense of humour. Thank you to Thomas, Haydar, Nuri etc for a lovely laid back holiday. We had half-board and Hotel food although very good but no choice only set "menu of the day". Do allow a few nights dining out because so many restaurants on offer - recommend Sini where we had excellent very traditional Turkish dishes - our 13 year old daughter had fish claypot - yum, setting lovely with 100+ year old rubber tree dominating pretty gardens. Loved Dalyan and will be back soon - certainly won't be waiting another 18 years!!

Room Tip: Room on shady side would be cooler in the evening

Stayed at Calypso Plus for 2 weeks in June/July 2012.Our room was top/first floor and had one bedroom with ensuite shower and seperate sitting room comprising sofa, dresser and small wardrobe. The hotel is a 10 minute walk along riverside into town.

Cons:
There was an air con unit in the bedroom area only, activated by card attached to room key. The room got very hot and would definately have benefited from permantly-on air con or a second unit in the sitting room. Warm water was available on a first come first served basis. Morning showers were usually fine, however most of the evening showers I had at around 7pm were cold if not freezing! There were no tea/coffee facilities nor fridge in the room. The nearest shop/supermarker was in Dalyan centre. The bar area maybe needed the option of some comfortable chairs with tables.

Pros:-
The rooms were cleaned and tidied daily and sheets/towels changed regularly. The hotel was also kept very clean throughout, well maintained and in a picturesque location.Sunbeds were generally available as and when required. The bar was open from breakfast till late and was well stocked. Sample prices were: soft drink 3.75TL, large EFES 6.5TL, glass of wine 6.5TL and a coffee 3.5TL (during our stay, £1 = 2.8TL when exchanged at Dalyan Post Office). You could get either a snack or meal at the riverside restaurant. All of the staff were fantastic, very friendly and a credit to the hotel, especially the very engaging barman 'happy hour' Haygar as well as Thomas, Nuri, Mohammed and Armet on riverside.

We enjoyed being able to take a leisurely breakfast on the jetty and feed left overs to the fish and baby turtles. We also spent several lazy afternoons by the riverside, making use of the cushioned area. Hotel staff were always on hand to serve drinks and snacks which were available to buy after breakfast.

We ate in town each night and would particularly recommend Taffys (Ali Babas) for Steak 30TL, Saki for authentic cuisine e.g. good variety of mezes costing between 8 and 15 TL per portion and Gerda's 'Le Cafe' when in need of a treat e.g. ice cream sundae! I would also recommend Tamarisk Travel for reliable and competively priced airport transfers.

Just had a great 2 weeks here and really loved it. The hotel is an easy 10 mins stroll into town along the riverside. We enjoyed sitting round the bar in the evenings and met some lovely fellow guests. Haydar, the barman, was exceptional but all the staff were so friendly and welcoming. We were surprised at first that we had no tv as this was in the Thomson blurb but then we wouldn't recommend travelling here with them. The rep turned up just once whereas the Anatolian sky rep only had one day off per week and couldn't do enough for for their customers. Our rep even forgot to have us picked up for our transfer back to the airport. Fortunately Metin sorted things out for us and we made it on time.
We would recommend Ali Baba's for evening meals. There is no menu but Taffy the owner shows you all the available meats or fish in the chilled cabinet and tells you all about them. The starters also looked delicious but unless you have a huge appetite you'd be best to stick with a main course especially if you choose to have the steak. Another favourite was Aubergine, where the clay pot meals were equally delicious.
The hotel dog even produced 4 gorgeous puppies while we were there. All in all a wonderful holiday and we can't wait to return.

Room Tip: Upper rooms have more privacy.

The Calypso Plus is a delightful family run small hotel on the banks of the river. Our first floor room overlooked the pool, the river and the cliffs beyond. The complex is small and nicely landscaped-no high rise hotels here! On arrival we were warmly greeted and our luggage taken up the spiral staircase to our room. The layout was explained to us. We had a bedroom with the wc and shower en suite. The bedroom itself had air conditioning. Our room had a bedside light, our neighbours room did not have this facility but one was provided on request. The shower room had a liquid soap dispenser, so take your own toiletries. The water is hot in the mornings but luke warm most days after 6.00pm-but who wants a hot shower after sunbathing in such a hot climate. There is a room off and this provides two chairs and a dressing table with mirror. This room has a wardrobe with ample hanging and storage space. A safe is provided at a cost of £1 per day. The windows are all provided with mosquito meshes.
There are sunbeds around the pool area and on the grassed area nearby- not all have sunshades. Breakfast is from 8.00am to 10am and can be taken in the restaurant area or by the covered seating area alongside the river. The breakfasts comprise cereals, apricots, melon, raisins, boiled eggs cheeses, bread yoghurt, honey, jams, two warm items such as sausage and scrambled egg, fruit juice, coffee and tea.
Whilst we did not dine in the evenings at the Calypso we heard of good reports. We did lunch at the riverside restaurant. This was very popular and you can while away an hour or so watching the river craft go by and feeding the turtles and fishes below.
All the guests found the staff very helpful and cheerful as other reviewers have indicated. On our stay we celebrated a wedding anniversary and the room maids decorated the bed with flowers- a lovely gesture. The walk to the centre is a paved walkway alongside the river and takes about 10 mins. There we found any number of boats willing to take you on river trips of one kind or another. We hired a boat to take us to the lakes where at this time of year we saw reed warblers and their nest at close quarters. Later in the year kingfishers can be seen in abundance. There is a public boat to the beach and currently the cost of this is 10 lira return. Should you wish to visit the other side of the river walk along the river footpath as far as it goes and there you will find a lady who will for a modest sum row you across and fetch you back when you are ready

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper or an early to bed person then seek a room away from the pool bar which r...

This hotel was absolutely brilliant. This was our first experience in a different part of Turkey and I would recommend this hotel in Dalyan. The staff were so friendly and courteous and nothing was too much trouble, the rooms were nice and airey and the beds were very comfortable. The rooms were cleaned every day and were spotless and a couple of times the housekeepers had made models with flowers out of our towels which were very pretty. Heider the barman was so funny and I was trying to teach him the saying about red sky at night shepherds delight which was hilarious as he kept getting the words mixed up so if anyone out there goes to the calypso test him out! We found the whole holiday so laid back and relaxing and of course wonderful weather. The only two comments I would say are that it would be nice to have had a little more variation for breakfast ie fresh fruit and toast and maybe a small fridge in the room but nevertheless we will definitely be returning to this hotel again. Jane and Kev

Room Tip: We had a room overlooking the pool but walking around the grounds I would say any of the rooms would...
