“Good location.... Dalyan bit touristy though...”
Reviewed June 28, 2010

Had a week here.
Plus side: Hotel in nice spot but only stay if you can have a balcony over the river. The views are lovely, tombs lit up at night are spectacular. Staff generally friendly and polite. Nice places to eat next to the river. Enjoyed the boat trips to the beach and the mud baths. Turtles in the river. Breakfast was fine but exactly the same every day.

Down side: Area too 'package touristy' for us, lot's of bars and tacky places full of English people. We had noisy neighbours in the hotel. The manager installed a cat scarer which emits a high pitched electronic tone every minute or two. Hurt my ears a lot , once I worked out what it was had to keep asking them to turn it off (which they did). Our toilet seat was broken and not fixed for the entire week. A chef cooks omelettes outside every morning - meant our room reeked of cooking/fat the entire time - ok for us because we get up early but not nice if you like to lie in

Just back from a fabulous 2 weeks at Dalyan Tezcan Hotel. What a fantastic setting, the hotel really is in the best position in Dalyan right on the river bank overlooking the Lycian rock tombs and in the middle of the village itself so ideally situated for anything you might want to do.

Staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. Our room was perfect (except for the lack of hot water each morning). Breakfast was good with fresh pancakes and omlettes made to order and the set menu evening meal excellent value for money - well worth a try.

Having already booked our flights we booked direct with the hotel which you can do via their internet site no problem.

Dalyan was as wonderful as ever with our favourite restaurants Safran and Hidden Garden still very popular.

I booked this hotel from the brochure three weeks before departure.. It seemed to suit my requirements and that of my son. I have travelled quite widely and never before just chosen something without first checking reviews. The Tezcan did not let me down. It is spotless and in the best of locations for perfect scenery and shops/resturants. I did read the reviews before I flew out which just made me more satisfied with my booking. We did have balcony rooms and I loved opening the curtains each morning to such a wonderful view. The showers are as good as other reviews.
For the people who had written the reviews that I read may I say that the issue regarding sunbeds being in the shade and a toaster required in the restuarant, all has been resolved. As another reviewer said, if you ask, the staff will see that it is done. Peter and I give our thanks to Suphi the restaurant manager who was always available during the day and served us every night at dinner. He spoke good English and was always polite, respectful and helpful with any questions we had about our stay. We enjoyed talking to him. One problem we had was that I had booked half board as I had never been to Dalyan before and therefore was not sure about eating out. This presented a problem for the hotel manager who asked us what we wanted to eat without having a menu other than a la carte, as most guests booked b&b and ate out. Suphi arranged our food accordingly. I think this hotel suffers because of its great location. I recommend that guests try the hotel for dinner. The food we ate was delicious and so well cooked. It was all fresh soups bread wonderful.
A small boat with a green canopy, moored alongside the hotel belongs to Mermet, who will take you where you want to go for an agreed price.

We turned up on spec having decided that we liked the position of the hotel and the riverside balconies. We got a reduced rate of YTL 120 as the hotel was very quiet in early April (despite the amazing weather), I suspect we could have bargained but it seemed a fair price and we just wanted to get settled after a long drive. The hotel was very nice with a simple breakfast. It’s located pretty much in the centre of Dalyan, very close to lots of restaurants. It also has a good Wi-Fi connection. The room was very clean, spacious and comfortable with an amazing bed, huge shower and lovely balcony. Parking was easy alongside the back of the hotel.
If you need a last night stopover in a nice town before flying back from Dalaman, this is an ideal one to go for, it is only 30-40 minutes to the airport

The Tezcan was good - but not great. Decent room, comfortable beds, great shower, excellent aircon. And fabulous views across to the tombs and up and down the river. Room cleaned daily and very thoroughly. But beware - anyone who books should ask for a room with view, otherwise you'll get no balcony, and a view over the back alley and a load of satellite dishes. The only advantage to the rooms at the back is that they are a bit bigger - so better if you need an extra bed for a child.

The great shame about the hotel is that it seemingly hasn't yet had time to develop a personality. We found it a bit cold and bland. It certainly has one of the best locations in town - and a lovely pool and restaurant overlooking the river. Two problems here, though. Firstly, the pool has sunbeds which are in the shade until the afternoon, so not great if you're a determined sun worshipper. And secondly, the restaurant is average, has no atmosphere and was more expensive than anywhere else we ate at. And the service was a bit indifferent. But we only ate there one night - so do try it if you stay there.

If they want to live up to their 'boutique' hotel claim, they need to create some atmosphere, get some decent coffee in for breakfast (a jar of instant to help yourself to??) and generally get a bit more of a smiley vibe going on. Reception staff were efficient and friendly but it's all a bit impersonal.

In sharp contrast, we spent an evening at the Bin Kaya - which, despite not having the best of locations, completely won us over for atmosphere and friendliness.

We were very lucky to book the week at Tezcan for around half the brochure price - but would have been less than impressed had we paid the full price. But all in all, a wonderful holiday and a clean, comfortable hotel with great location and huge potential. Let's hope they make the most of that potential soon.

We stayed at the Tezcan Hotel for a week and were not disappointed. The hotel is in a perfect position right on the river but also in the centre of town. I dont think there is a better positioned hotel in Dalyan. We booked though a booking agent and although it was great value, we had a room without a balcony which did feel a little claustrophobic so definitely worth the extra for the balcony and the fantastic view.

All the staff were really friendly and helpful and did make a big contribution to your overall enjoyment. Breakfast although fairly limited in variety was fine with omelettes cooked to order. Some toast would have been nice.

My only disappointment was the pool area. The pool was quite cold, colder than the sea and I put this down to the fact that it was shaded by the hotel building for at least half the day and most of the sun beds where completely shaded until late afternoon. Obviously, there was little that could be done about the pool but we asked the staff why the sun beds weren’t moved to the other side of the pool during the day where they would be in the sun and moved away at night to make way for the tables for dinner and breakfast but they didn’t really seem to see the need. I am sure that there wouldn’t be a problem with individuals moving them however, the public boat goes down to the beach from just outside the hotel and although we don’t normally spend the day on the beach we did in Dalyan. The trip down by boat made it such a lovely day out..

We are just back from two weeks at Tezcan hotel in Dalyan. Fabulous location. However you definately need to book a river facing room with balcony. The staff were tremendous. Nothing was too much trouble, especially Ugur (spelling?) the manager. The star has to be Selkan the barman, efficient, helpful and always a smile. This is the first season thehotel has been open and yes there were a few things that needed to be tweeked - uncomfortable sun beds, a toaster in the breakfast room! We had a 3 am alarm call the morning we left and when we went down to reception the manager had arranged for the security man to make us coffee and there were sandwiches and bottles of water to take with us to the airport. No one else on the airport bus had been given this! Excellent service.
