We stayed 3 nights in July 2012 and our host Ece was absolutely amazing! Located within the original city walls and on its doorstep the amazing ruins which is definitely worth a visit with clear views all the way to Lesvos (Greek island). Visit Assos for a swim and dinner-just stunning. Before we even commenced our journey, I knew it would be good, as Ece was very helpful with directions(we were driving around Turkey) and recommendations. It only has 3 rooms and they were the most comfortable. It was simply wonderful waking up in the morning to a wonderful breakfast, at the pool, on the terrace or inside dining. Having a drink on the terrace in the evening with a beautiful sea breeze was heavenly. We fell inlove with Behramkale/Assos and we certainly fell inlove with our hostess and Assos Alarga. Bravo!

Room Tip: All rooms have a view.

Excellent experience overall, I highly recommend Assosalarga! Be sure to ask for directions to the little bar/beach near the Okon Hotel. Back in Assos, eat out on the hotel terrace for a delicious meal and sweeping views, then climb the short distance up to the acropolis at dusk when no one else is around.

Assos Alarga - "the smallest hotel" (as its sign says) - definitely deserves the chorus of great reviews in these paragraphs. We stayed with Ece in May 2012, regrettably only for one night, but that was so delightful - quite the best way to start a long road trip. Yes, 3 rooms only, and they are all beautifully appointed, deliciously comfortable and with endless views. A rooftop terrace and walled garden set off the tranquil setting; nightingales sing, sheep meander along the laneway, herbs fragrance the air, and this is truly a place to relax and enjoy. Ece provides you with the most delicious meals, wine and of course her own delightful company. There is a library of books to delve into, and an ambience set off against fine music and sheer enjoyment. Assos Alarga is perched above Behramkale on the coast, 5 minutes drive below - it is a gem. Allow yourselves time to stay and enjoy this lovely experience.

Our party arrived to the sounds of classical music. The owner's mother, a classical concert pianist, was playing downstairs. This was certainly an unusual pleasure which gave a delightful start to a wonderful two day stay. The rooms are interesting and comfortable. The breakfasts had a wide variety of food choices. And, Ece, the owner, mingled with us in the great room, giving us a great insight into Turkey. Overall it was a very pleasant and unique stop at a great location on our two week trip.

Room Tip: There are only three rooms. They are equally nice.

We stayed at Assos Alarga for two night in the first week of April, 2012.

The Hotel is perfectly located, 50m from the ruins of the huge site of the temple of Pallas Athena, which covers the mountain top and itself gives beautiful views over an island and the bay, and for eating in Assos itself. The hotel is a beautifully rebuilt house, again with terrific views over green rolling hills, from the rooms and the breakfast balcony.

The rooms themselves are tastefully decorated, with a lot of thought having gone into making them feel welcoming. This is a splendid place to relax, especially after touring the fascinating ruins or walking down to the harbour driving to the various beaches.

However, the real “find” was Ece, the proprietoress.
We travel frequently, and agree we have never felt so welcome nor had such entertaining conversation. From the great breakfasts, to well chilled and enjoyable wines by the pool, and a BBQ evening meal, Ece managed to provide a warm and special service while making us feel like friends, a difficult balance which many bigger hotels could take note of. It was as much a pleasure to spend time with Ece as it was to experience the quiet, very comfortable tranquillity of this wonderful small hotel. Indeed, booking into a large hotel in Istanbul for the night following our stay in Assos, we received a card with her wishes from the “Small Hotel”. This is an indication of the care and attention you receive at the Assos Alarga.

We will be back!

In general, the immediate region feels relatively unspoilt by tourism, and the people were unfailingly friendly, from those at the picture perfect harbour, to a farmer who offered a sprig of a roadside herb to smell and, smiling, waved us on our way. Again, Ece, who has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the area, will provde suggestions for drives, walks and restaraunts, and what she does not know she will find out for you, quickly.

Me and my wife spent 2 nights in this wonderful place at the end of April 2012. I don't even know where to start..
Location was great with an amazing view, at the top Behramkale, in a quiet and peaceful place. The hospitality of Ece, the owner, and Mehmet were beyond great. The breakfast that they prepare for each of their 3 rooms every morning is amazing and delicious. The personal attention of Ece to every little detail, the owner, made the experience unique and wonderful.
We will definetely go there again both during the summer and the winter. I especially want to go there just for a weekend in the summer and never leave the place for the whole time, reading a book next to the pool with a glass of wine, or maybe a cold beer.

I stayed in AssosAlarga for 2 days and received such a welcomıng hospitality. Mehmet prepared the breakfast each mornıng wıth such style. Ece, the owner, was very helpful about providing information on the region and also about other parts of Turkey to discover. My room had a marvellous view of the mountains and it was such a 'chill out' place - highly recommended.
