WE stayed here for only four nights but it was one of the best sea holidays I ever had.
Villa del Mar is located between the main touristic town of Assos and the larger Küçükkuyu, on the Aegean coast. There are many small hotels and motels side by side on this coast, but none very near Villa del Mar, therefore the beach is not shared. The buildings are right by the main road, between the seashore and the mountains with scents of oregano come by occasionally and you can see olive trees.
There are only a small number of rooms (25) in the facility, most of them lined on two sides of the short main entrance road, the rest closer to the sea. Our room was fairly small, with a double and a bunk bed -obviously for parents and children. The window opened to the tiny porch right in front of the room, where one can relax in the evening. The room was very clean, though lacked adquate number of power outlets -we took turns charging our phones, and I eventually forgot my triple socket there. There was an airconditioner in the room.
There is a loung outside on the center road between the rooms and the sea, where one can chill in the afternoon or in the evening.
The beach was not small, with abundent bean bags and lounge chairs, huge straw screens or straw umbrellas -even if the hotel is fully booked, one can always find a suitable spot there. The beach is pebbly, gets sandy after a few meters, the water was fairly cool, but that depends on the weather. There is a wooden jetty from which you can jump directly into the water. There is only one ladder on the jetty, but I was told they would build another soon. Because the beach and the premises are large enough, even with many young children, you might not be disturbed.
The breakfast and dinner offered was quite tasty and adequate. Especially certain dishes at dinner were fantastic. The lunch menu however is kind of limited. There are not many places to go for lunch around the hotel if you don't have a car. There is a wide area right on the beach with tables where you have dinner and lunch. Their wines are limited, would be great to have more variety. The music is quite low, and not disturbing. The lights are turned off at 11.30-12.00, but they ask you first.
The staff is amazingly friendly, smiling, helpful and kind. The owners were very helpful, caring and kind. We were offered twice a ride to Küçükkuyu to take buses, and they asked for no fees.
If you are not after luxury, but a plain, quiet sea holiday with good food, Villa del Mar is an ideal place for that.
