We have just returned from a week staying with Serpil and her family in this beautiful spot on the coast (23 to 30 March 2013) and would highly recommend it. We were visiting Cirali for the first time with our 20 month old son, Max. It really is a beautiful spot and such a contrast to busy Antalya. The beach is stunning and surrounded by beautiful mountains. There are no big hotels around. It was still early in the season which meant that there were very few tourists around yet and it often felt like we had the whole beach to ourselves. The weather was lovely - warm days with plenty of sun and cool evenings. The orange trees were just starting to blossom and the smell was amazing. The ruins at Olympos are walking distance and really worth a visit.

We stayed in the "blue house": a lovely stone cottage with everything you need including heating for the cooler evenings (and air-conditioning that would obviously be appreciated in the summer), a fully equipped kitchen, and a lovely terrace for eating outside. The breakfasts were delicious and we had slightly different things everyday including Easter eggs on our last morning! The fresh eggs and fresh orange juice from the garden were definitely the highlights. We also ate there in the evenings on a couple of occasions and the food Serpil prepared was really delicious and it was great to try traditional homecooked food. We asked Serpil to arrange an airport transfer from Antalya, which worked really smoothly and made getting there really easy even though we arrived at night. We also got to visit the two new wooden houses that have been built for 2013. They were also beautiful and with very nice decks outside and will be great places to stay too.

This was an ideal place to be with a toddler: our son had the best time running around the garden and was especially fond of the cats, dog and chickens. Serpil also provided some toys for him to play with as well as highchairs and a cot. The beach is really close - a couple of minutes walk - but the garden is safely away from the small road so we didn't have to worry that our son would run out into it. There are plenty of small restaurants and markets in walking distance that were all very children friendly and so we didn't need a car.

Serpil and her family were wonderful hosts making us feel completely at home. For example, I was travelling pregnant so needed to get a 'fit-to-fly' doctor's certificate and Serpil drove us to Kemer so that we could arrange this and visit the town. Their hospitality really made this holiday extremely relaxing - which is saying a lot when you are 7 months pregnant and travelling with an energetic toddler!!

We have just come home having spent 9 days at Akdeniz Bahcesi. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and feel we have found a gem of a place in Turkey. After reading the reviews on TA we thought it may be too good to be true, but it is as good a people say it is.

We were made to feel so welcome by the whole family. We have an 18 month old daughter so there were more than a few requirements, all of which were met with a friendly smile by Kudret and Serpil. Our apartment was spotless and had lovely personal touches.

Our daughter especially loved the garden and could run around to her heart’s content chasing chickens and the dog, and sensibly the cat stayed out her way. The garden also had loads of toys to keep her occupied. It was peaceful and tranquil and made us feel very relaxed. It’s such a beautiful setting you don’t really need to leave and on some days we didn’t! We took advantage of the excellent home cooking almost every night. Delicious food which, for us with a little one, was so much more convenient than going out every night to eat.

There are only 3 apartments which means it never feels busy, and individual requirements are happily catered for. The only thing we didn’t realise is that the mosque is close by and so the call to prayer is quite loud, this was fine during the day but not so good at 5am but we guess this would be the same where ever you stayed.

We didn’t fully expect a relaxing holiday with a toddler but after staying here we really feel like we got it! We would definitely love to return. Thanks for making our holiday a great one to remember!

Serpil and her family received us beautifully in the charming and spacious stonehouse. A fragrant garden offered shade from citrus and pomegranate trees. Our 2-year old son played happily with chickens, dog and cats on the little outdoor play area (while we dozed in hammocks underneath an avocado tree). Serpil's Mediterranean cuisine is mouthwatering, from grilled sea bream to tender-as-a-rose kebabs (better than anything we tried in Cirali). She really looks after you. The breakfast is top-notch, with a variety of fresh cheeses with herbs, home-made cherry jam, olives and lemonades. The stonehouse is traditionally chic and well equipped. The whole place oozes taste - cultural capital. the stone pebble beach is glorious with a view of a huge cliff and was not overcrowded. Beautiful especially in the afternoon. On early mornings we saw baby turtles hatching and crawling out to sea.

Our family stayed here for 5 days in November, with 5 people ranging in age from 3 to 70. It really is a unique place to unwind. You have the option to hang out in the garden, go to the beach, or rent a car and venture a little further afield (there is lots to see and the location is great). The home-cooked meals are great, and there is really no need to leave (although you can of course, and we did go out exploring).

Cirali is a real change from the All-Inclusives that dot so much of the coast around Antalya. This place is really amazing for young kids, and also gives their parents and grandparents a chance to relax. We have travelled a lot, and we rarely go back, but we will go back to Akdeniz Bahcesi!

We visited at the end of October 2011 and took all three guest houses at Akdeniz Bahcesi - three couples, with four small children. We intended to come for a beach holiday, but spent just as much time sitting and chatting in the the beautiful garden filled with fruit trees (pomegranates, avocados, grapefruit and more). The three year olds loved running around and pushing each other on the little swings, and collecting eggs from the chickens that run everywhere. We felt really safe letting them run around and explore. Serpil's home cooked dinners and snacks were delicious, and the family made us feel at home. It's really close to the beach - mostly pebbly, but with beautiful warm seas and fantastic views of the surrounding mountains.

We'd love to come back!

Room Tip: The Stone House is biggest and has a lovely patio with a swing sofa.

One of the nicest places I've ever stayed. Sitting having my breakfast amongst the fruit trees as my kids romped round the garden. Serpil and her lovely family were friendly without being intrusive, the house was fantastic and Akdeniz Bahcesi was my favourite place in one of my favourite ever holiday destinations.

We are just back from a wonderful week in Cirali, with our 2 children (19 months & 4).

What a place! A very slow, friendly and relaxed pace of life, in beautiful surroundings with great food, great weather, warm sea, and plenty to keep us entertained for the week. A magical evening walk up to the Chimera, which we'll all remember forever, rambles through the ruins of Olympos on the far side of the beach, and a morning in the market at Kumluca. The beach is wild and beautiful - once you're in the clear, blue sea, you can only see trees and mountains surrounding you. No nasty big hotels here. Cirali is heavenly. I would return again in an instant.

But the highlight for us, and the best memories are of Akdeniz Bahcesi. Serpil, Ekrem and their son Kudret are the perfect hosts. Friendly, patient, helpful, generous and charming without being invasive. The blue house is comfortable, well equipped and pretty, with lots of personal touches. When we arrived, the fridge was stocked with all we needed for delicious breakfasts - eggs from the chickens, 2 kinds of cheese, home made marmalade, olives, fresh fruit and vegetables and milk. There is a great coffee maker and lots of fresh coffee and tasty turkish tea. We were in heaven every morning, sat out on our verandah with the chickens and chihuahuas, eating breakfast, while our son ran off to explore the utterly beautiful garden, filled with walnut, grapefruit, lemon, orange, avocado, pecan, mulberry and other beautiful trees and plants. By the end of the week, our boy would go and sit with the family while they ate or climb the avocado tree, or play in the swing or the hammock that they hung for him. Serpil appeared every now and again with another generous offering. Grapefruit and pomegranate from the trees, a bucket full of oranges and a juicer, a jar of mountain honeycomb, some homemade borek..... Honestly! We ate out in the village restaurants most evenings, as we liked the walk back in the dark and think it's nice to try out lots of different places, but ate at home one evening, and Serpil (not put off by our vegetarianism) made us a really, really delicious 3 course dinner. She is a brilliant cook. My husband turned 40 on the Thursday and Serpil made a beautiful cake for him and the family sang happy birthday while we all celebrated with a nice cup of Turkish cay (tea!). Serpil is also a very talented weaver and patchworker. She showed us around her weaving studio with her looms and tapestries and cloths. Need I go on?

Cirali is great, and it is full of lovely little places to stay, with pretty bungalows hidden among the trees, posh swimming pools and short ambles to the beach and restaurants, but there is something very special about Akdeniz Bahcesi and the people there, and I'd be surprised if there was anywhere else quite like it.

We feel very lucky to have found the place. Thanks for having us. We had better get saving to come back again one day!
