We have just returned from 8 wonderful days at Akdeniz Bahcesi, with our 3 children (12 year old twins and a 10 year old), where we stayed in the largest of the 3 cottages (Stone House).

Cirali is a good choice if you’re looking to escape the large hotel complexes on the Turkish Mediterranean coast. The village is relaxed with a super beach for swimming and enough nearby places of interest including the ruined city of Olympos, eternal flames at nearby Chimaera (amazing at night) and if you’re lucky the chance to see newly hatched turtles in their first early morning scramble to the sea.

If you’ve been looking over this site you’ll see many of the small hotels and guesthouses in Cirali have excellent reviews and it can be quite difficult to make a choice. In comparison to many of the wooden cabins at other pensiyons, Stone house at Akdeniz Bahcesi is a fairly substantial property, which worked well for us as a family of 5, and the high ceilings also help in the August heat. The internal decor is simple, but quite stylish with many fabrics and furnishing locally sourced. Our kids appreciated the good wireless internet connection throughout the property. The house is a very easy 3 minute walk from the quietest end of the beach and the garden is large, expertly maintained and full of fruit trees and natural life. For us however probably what will stay in our memories more than anything else are how gracious our hosts were with their gentle warmth and hospitality. Serpil and Kudret have excellent English and are able to provide a lot of interesting insights into the local area, Turkish life and their work in organic fruit growing and textiles. Their home cooked food is so tasty and made a nice addition to the local restaurants which are also mostly of a high standard.

All in all a fabulous holiday

My family had such a wonderful time at Akdeniz Bahcesi. Serpil and her son Kudret were fantastic hosts. They were so helpful. The beautiful and well cared for garden setting of the three bungalows delighted us and our children. it was quite educational for them with the many citrus and other types of fruit trees together with the varied wildlife of chickens, hedgehogs, gekkos etc. It was not like a hotel more like staying at a good friends house. the whole area of Cirali is very beautiful and very natural and underdeveloped. from the beach one cannot see any hotels at all.
We would definitely return.

We stayed for a week in the August heat and soon got into a routine of doing nothing at all in the beautiful garden filled with flowers and trees; our favourite place to sit was on the swing seat outside The Stone House where we stayed. The beach is a couple of minutes walk, our favourite coffee shop and bakery five minutes, the restaurants ten minutes. Our hosts werre very helpful and unobstrusive, they looked after us impeccibly. When you are in the sea you can;t see a single building, everything is below the tree line. And there would be wonderful hiking in a cooler month. Highly recommended.

We spent 4 fantastic nights at Akdenisz and cannot fault a single thing.
While we were there our twin daughters had their 10th birthday and were spoiled with a delicious home baked chocolate cake with their names written on it. Every day we were given fresh juice squeezed from the fruit of one of the many varieties of organically grown trees in the garden. The dinner was superb every night and Serpil checked whether her menu of choice was suitable for us.
The location is a easy 3 minute stroll to the most beautiful beach. It is a protected beach and the WWF put baskets over the Loggerhead Turtle (Caretta Caretta) nests every day. We spent hours snorkelling with our kids and looking at the fish.
The historic sight of Olympos is a few minutes away, as is the magnificent Chimera Yanartas (the burning rocks mountain).
It has to be on of the most peaceful and unspoiled places on earth. A true gem of a find.
