Not too many, not to few stairs that lead to a great view of Sighisoara, a very interesting church and a beautiful cemetery.

Basically just a covered walkway the kids used to use to go to school and the church so that if it was bad weather they wouldn't get soaked.Nice to go this way up to the church then take the side street back down to the town.

We visited with a guide who had walked these stairs for four years while in high school. He told us a lot about them.

First, note that there are landings after every few stairs. People used to fall on the stairs, and before there were landings, they would roll all the way to the bottom and even die as a result. When Sighisoara was under Austria-Hungarian rule, a law was passed mandating the landings as a safety measure.

Next, couples planning to marry need to kiss on every step to be sure they are truly in love.

These stairs were built to provide a safer way for students to get to school and people to get to the Church on the Hill. They are particularly helpful in bad weather.

The stairs are old historical landmark. It was a good walk to the old church, school and a view. There is also a graveyard.
