One of my favorite destinations. Something cool about staying in an inn at Dracula's (Vlad Tepes') birthplace. Walking the streets at night, living in a 400 year old room, dining in his birth home... all adds up to a great experience.
The bell tower is a wonder. Do not go up if you fear heights!!! My teenage daughter was completely enthralled with Sighisoara!
Try to ignore the Goths and Twilight groupies.

I enjoyed the free city tour our hotel gave us. Such a fun way to learn about history of this place. Must visit!

The citadel of Sighisoara, just over an hour drive from Targu Mures Transylvania Airport, is simply unmissable!
History at every step, picturesque little covered alleys, colourful ancient houses, picture-perfect squares and towers (especially the Clock Tower hosting the History Museum),remarkable churches, the beautiful "Covered Stairs", atmospheric hotels and restaurants with tasty food and drinks, are all here on the hill. Definitely worths a day of your trip in Romania. It is even more beautiful in the snow and could be combined with quite an impressive Blues Festival in February.

An amazing old citadel (actually, the last Medieval citadel that is still inhabited, in Europe). Great people and great food. I strongly recommend at least a 3-day visit.

The Historic Centre is really divided in two different areas : the Higher part where one has to climb an enclosed staircase to reach and is rewarded with a beautiful view of the valley and the Lower part ( still on the hill) where the details are the important aspect !
We spent a bit more than half a day visiting both sections , including one hour in the Arts and Craft Centre . A guided walking tour was advertised to take place starting at 11.00 a.m. but it never did probably because we were very late in the season . I could be an interesting thing to do in the summer !
Sighisoara and its enclosed Historic Centre is definitively worth a stopover !
