We stayed two nights in the Pension Citadela and my overall experience was average with the exception of the staff. The two ladies that run the hotel were extremely helpful and very kind from the initial booking, to checking in and resolving any issues we had. The pension is decorated very well, including the rooms with the wonderful splashes of color as artwork on the walls and great views of the city. The breakfasts in the morning were really quite nice and there was a lot of selection. It is also located very, very close to the clock tower and the main square in Sighisoara.
When we first checked into our room my husband tried to have a shower, but the rod was barely hanging on to the wall. A few pulls and it would have fallen. The same goes for the toiletry shelf. So with the shower rod problem we changed rooms and had fewer issues with the new room, but we could still see that things just seemed to be patched up rather than having things fixed appropriately. Then for some reason we noticed that the rooms started smelling like a sewer, especially after showers and at night. So we covered the vents with a towel to eliminate the smell a bit, and it somewhat helped. Overall, the rooms seemed a little small and there were some odd angles to get around, especially for a tall person. In the first room my husband could not even stand straight up in the shower.
If I were to do it again I would stay somewhere else in Sighisoara. The owners were wonderful and very, very pleasant, but they need to increase the maintenance quality of the pension, rather than having things barely patched up. Additionally, that sewer smell needs to be addressed and resolved if it has not been already.
