Rustic décor, hefty solid wood furniture. We were here in the off-season, meaning that we were virtually the only guests. We arrived very early in the morning, and it was no problem checking in early, although the official check-in time was not until 4pm, which seems a bit weirdly late (but perhaps the norm for rural Romania). Perfectly located at the foot of the medieval centre of the city. We had great views from our windows. Staff were charming and friendly, although English could be a little rough, depending on who was at the desk.
Despite the fact that there was a menu in the room, there does not appear to be an on-site restaurant – from what we could gather, another Villa Franka location in town housed the restaurant (?). There were a few small issues with the room, which was generally comfortable, and featured free wi-fi and an inexpensive (!) mini-bar. First, it has not been outfitted with enough electrical outlets; there are precisely none to spare without unplugging a lamp or the mini-bar, which made plugging in a laptop/cell phone/whatever a trick. Second, the doors to the shower were not at all effective, with shower water flowing quite freely out of the shower and onto the bathroom floor where it quickly cooled into massive chilly puddles. The television did not appear to work, although we did not investigate this too thoroughly.
