“Stunning views from hotel entrance and very close to old city.”
Reviewed May 15, 2012

Spacious, clean room with a huge living room, equipped kitchen and a modest bedroom. Fears that it will be noisy were not confirmed, closed windows helped to sleep well.

Good location, free parking, apartment is very nice and has plenty of room.
Can walk to old town.
The only problem we had was the lack of elevator.

The windows were trembling by the passing by lorries. The air cooler was very noisy. The bedroom was at a very claustrophobic loft. The carpet of the room had a heavy smell from the cleaning detergents used.No elevator. It was a negative experience.
We traveled for 2 weeks all around Romania,we stayed at 9 hotels/apartments,this was by far the worst.

Good points:
- Private parking
- Ability to self-cater
- Plenty of space
- Short walk to old town
- Cheaper per person than staying in local hotels
Bad points:
- AC is noisy (internal units rather than split units)
- Bar opposite sometimes has a DJ playing outside on terrace till late
- Oven and/or grill would be useful (only had a twin hob)
- On a busy street (main route passing town)

The staff were friendly and helpful when asked for advice/recommendations and the apartment itself is a useful base for anyone wanting to explore the area, particularly by car (it's more difficult to find parking up in the citadel). The hotel has no special charm or authenticity, nor does it have views to speak of, but it's only a 5-10 minute walk into the old town/citadel so what you lack in atmosphere you gain in convenience. If you are looking for a more romantic or atmospheric stay in Sighisoara you're probably better off picking one of the hotels up in the citadel

There is a small grocery shop about 100m away where you can pick up basic supplies (bread, cheese, salami, tomatoes, coffee, etc.) which is useful for self-caterers. There is a Penny Market about 5 mins drive away if you need more. The parking, although private and off-road, is not secured. I think the worst thing was the air conditioning which was very noisy - with it on you can hardly hear yourselves talk! I would also have been nice to have at least a toaster as there was no grill, only a two-ring electric hob - good enough for boiling an egg or making a coffee, but that's about it. The bar across the road can get noisy at nights so I would recommend asking for a room at the back of the hotel. Had a large bathroom with hot water and clean towels.

We're in the area again next month and were happy enough with the experience to book it again (especially as the outside disco will have hopefully closed by now and we no longer need to worry about AC). If you are travelling with a small group or a family with kids then this accommodation will suit you well. If you are a couple then I'd probably recommend something up in the citadel (eg. Casa Wagnar or Casa cu Cerb) to get a better feel for the place.

We spent 4 nights in one of their 2 level apartments, which was perfect for my wife and I with our 2 year old daughter. Her cot was placed in a small ante room outside our airconditioned bedroom upstairs. Downstairs we had air conditioning, a huge bathroom, small kitchen with a large fridge, a big living area with plenty of cable TV options. The room was kept spotlessly clean, the staff were very friendly (especially with my daughter) and they have secure, off-street parking. It is just a short walk to a small mini-market, which has all of your needs. In terms of location, the hotel is on a main road, which does give a little bit of noise, and it is a 10-15 minute walk to the citadel. If we had one complaint, the pillows on the bed were rubbish.

Firstly - the hotel is nice. We had a 2 bedroom apartment and it had a little kitchen and living area. Unfortunately we received a room that faced the road which is a very busy road. The windows do not have double panes so you do hear the traffic. I would still recommend this hotel but will suggest that upon booking you ask for a room that does not face the road. Location wise - pretty good, even though if you are looking for location, location, location I would definitely recommend Hotel Sigisoara.

We visited Sighisoara, the largest medieval fortress still inhabited of Europe. We stayed in this lovely hotel and we couldn't be more happy with our choise. The hotel is very new (opend 3 months ago) and everything was modern, clean and best quality. The stuff was very, very friendly. I have no complaints at all! Our journey in Sighisoara was so marvelous grace to this location! Every appartment has a little kitchen, full equiped, all spotless, and a very large livingroom, very cosy. Internet wireless - free, witch is a plus! I would reccomend to all my friends this hotel.

  • Liked — Large and very clean rooms
  • Disliked — The location, because it's a little bit noisy
