It was quite cold and foggy in Sapa while we visited, but this hotel was very cozy. They kept a fire going in the lobby, and serve the most wonderful coffee down there, as well as very nice breakfasts. The owner and staff were wonderful, allowing us to check in early without a charge, arranging for trekking for us, and arranging for our laundry to be done. There was someone waiting at the train station to pick us up, which was nice. The room had a space heater and electric blankets as well as an electric teapot. Beautiful bathrooms, though I would have loved a tub to warm up in! Hot water and wi fi were a bit spotty, but hot water was fixed as soon as they were notified. One of the better experiences we had in Vietnam. I definitely recommend this charming hotel!

We arrive in Lao Cai train station early in the morning at 5.30am (26Feb2012), surprisingly the owner send a guy to pick up us and their other guest (he knows our arrival because we confirm him our arrival by email). Another nice service is we can directly check in to our room even before sunrise without extra charge. It was very cold and foggy outside. There is fire place in the lobby where we can hang out when thinking not going coz so foggy out side. Inside the room they have 2 pcs portable room heater without extra charge and electric matras (bed) and the hot shower also work well.
I don't think this hotel has mountain view, but we don't care because nothing you can see anyway.
The location is in the city center, able to walk to the market. We rent a motorbike to see the Heaven Gate which is the higher you go the sunny you get. Going back to city center welcome by foggy sapa, Brrrr....

Room Tip: I think they have room with balcony would be nice if it's not foggy in Sapa

Great Stay... The owner is very efficient and manages the Hotel and guests needs very well. We were welcomed with a lovely breakfast, warm room and great fire in the reception. Hotel very clean, rooms very comfortable, clean and spacious and warm, the heaters worked well, and the electric blankets add a lovely cosy feel at night especially if its cold. We had beautiful blue sky and went on a day trek with our guide called Me..she was very fluent in English and dressed in her traditional Mhong costume made the experience very special. A memorable part of our SE Asia trip..worth the Journey. Thai Binh is in a good location close to centre of town. The owner took care of our travel arrangements from/to Hanoi, all went to plan..overnight sleeper was Livitrans private 4 bed compartment, no complaints, slept well.

Room Tip: We were a family with 2 teenagers, we had 2 connecting rooms..really good.

The hotel was actually very nice and quaint. While hot water, wifi and room warmth was a bit on and off, its pretty much family-run and they were very helpful for tours and pick-up. Heated mattresses really helped too and the location is right near the church and market. Best part is they were very friendly.

It was very cold and foggy in Sapa when I was there. Comfortable, clean rooms (but no door numbers which made things confusing at first). Very good English-speaking owner but often not around or busy out back. Most expensive place I stayed in a month in Vietnam and while nice it seems too expensive for what it offers.

We stayed in Sapa during heavy fog and cold weather. Glad to have found Thai Binh Hotel, because all the above stated is true: great owner, warm fireplace, great room with heating and electric blanket and a really nice place to come 'home' to after a cold and wet day out. Probably a nice view as well, but we saw only the first 40 metres of it... The room was a bit above our budget, but more than worth it!

We wanted a nice and warm hotel because Sapa can be foggy and cold. We found this one with tripadvisor and are very happy about it. The train was a disaster, we had the cabin at the end and it was the only one with a very low ceiling. There was a Vietnamese family on the lower beds and there was no space left for our backpacks under the beds or in the cabin. So we had to take our backpacks on the small beds. We had to do some real bending to get on the beds.
We were happy that we aranged a pickup with the hotel. And when we arrived at the hotel there was already a room for us! The owner is very nice and relaxed.
The room is very nice and clean. The bathroom is so beautiful with a great hot shower. You have a small electric heater in the room (no extra costs), very thick blankets and a electric blanket. So you can't be cold at night. Only the beds are a little bit hard but we had a good night sleep. The owner is very helpful and we had a nice chat with him when having breakfast. One tip for dinner or lunch go to Sapa rooms, real tastefull food and wonderfull juices!
