“enjoyable stay in Sapa”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

We highly recommend this hotel : very clean , very good service, friendly staff, good food, trustful people, beautiful garden, etc. and in the middle of the city ! The city is really a nice place to spend several days to visit yhe tribal villages, meet the locals, eat exotic foods, buy real souvenirs, and just to relax from the stress of big cities and many more reasons ! We love to be back in Sapa and to explore more this beautiful place and to stay again in this lovely hotel !

Room Tip: great view of the mountains and rice paddies and the local villages

My brother found this place on booking.com and said the reviews were great. We arrived at 7 am and they fed us breakfast until our rooms were ready. The view from the room was spectacular, the room was very nice and even had a fireplace, which we used on the second night.

Staying 2 nights, we got to know the family that owns the place. Very genuine and caring people. I would recommend anyone to stay here. Totally safe, clean, great view, and a good location.

Room Tip: Get the third or 4th floor. The view is great from there. We were on the end opposite the lobby, whi...

We stay in the hotel just for one night. We have requested early checkin and when we got at 7:00ap our room was waiting for us. So as ae requested late check out and we were allowed to stay as long as we can so till 6:00pm. The manager invited us free of charge for a dinner which wes lovely from him. The local village tours via the hotels are bit expensive but they can manage a bus to Lao Cai back to the train station for $3. Rooms clean and we had even terrace. The staff except the manager does not speak english at all, but we had go ogle translator at the reception and we managed to agree on together. Manager speak English and French as far as I know and have heard.Breakfast quite good but still I went to a nearly restaurant to eat more. it is in the heart of Sapa very close to market. In general we were really very pleased by this hotel and it was the best one on our tour in Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam so far. Thank you.

This was a great first stop in Vietnam. The manager - Manh - was incredibly accommodating and liberal with the tasty food and apple brandy - the tour he organised for me was by far the best anyone trekking to the nearby village had - with the lively and talkative and tiny Hmong Peng. The cheapest room was big, clean, cheap and tidy and the shower was good.

This is a basic hotel with clean rooms and heat at night (not all hotels in Sapa have heat so you should always ask!). My only caveat is to time your showers... I had a delightfully warm shower in the afternoon after the treks, but could only get cold water in the morning and at night.

The food is good, the staff are helpful and the beer is well priced (30 000 - 40 000 dong for a beer). Depending on your desires, a luxury traveller will find it basic and a backpacker will find it paradise. (Unlike the photos posted, the fireplaces are not working, so there is a giant empty fireplace in the room that they try to cover with a garbage bin.)

We got here through an excursion we bought in Hanoi - and for 50$ 2 nights with excursions and food included, we couldn't have been more satisfied.

We arrived in Sapa unready for the cold and the manager of the hotel promptly offered us sweaters (I'm sure we would have frozen to death otherwise). The guide he provided for us was, without a shadow of a doubt, the best and most genuine we got throughout our whole trip to Viet Nam, and the food they gave us was also among the best we had in the whole trip. They even fried hand-made spring rolls for us - all included! And would fry more hand-sliced french fries, should we order more - always without having to pay an extra cent!

The rooms are clean and comfy, the toilets are more that decent, and our room had extra blankets, included towels, and even a water boiler and a hair drier were there for us to use them if we wanted to. The wi-fi is good, they offer motorbike rental for a very reasonable price, and there are lot of local minority people working for the hotel - which give very useful advice in what concerns where to go and how much to pay for stuff! :)

The only caveat would be the fact that a lot of the staff other than the minorities and the manager did not speak a word of english. They were nice, of course, but communication was not exactly easy. And maybe it would be nice to have heating system in the room - though we went through the nights easily with the blankets they had for us there.

They don't offer a lot for breakfast - but at one point we were still hungry, asked for another bread with butter and jam and they had no problem in offering us a second one. And on our last night, the manager even made it possible for us to take a shower before we left. We really loved it!

I went to Sa Pa in July with my wife and daughter and I was impressed by Auberge Dang Trung. The manager was extremely nice and helpful, he let us get to the room very early (as soon as we arrived from Lao Cai, in the morning) and allowed us to stay in the room in the afternoon and take a last shower on the day of our departure. He was always willing to help all his clients, spoke excellent french and very resourceful. The room are very nice and clean, the staff very friendly, the food excellent. The prices are affordable, and the trekking was a wonderful experience, with an excellent Hmong guide. Maybe our best experience during our trip to Vietnam. A definite repeat.
