“Great hotel!!!!!”
Reviewed May 7, 2014

I stayed her for around 5 days in September 2013. The owners are great. They were more than helpful and made sure i had everything i needed. When i rent a motorcycle for a few days to go to another area, they made sure i had water to take with me. When i left to take the train back to Hanoi they gave me water and banana's. They are very caring. The breakfast was huge and very good. The room was clean and comfortable. Great wifi access as well. Close enough to downtown Sapa but far enough away to avoid being bombarded with people selling things every time you walk out of your hotel. Its a nice walk to the center of Sapa. I highly recommend this hotel.

My whole experience at this hotel has been incredible. The owners are very nice, they brought me some Vietnamese apples one night...just because, what a great way to wow their customers.

The food here is one of the best I've tried in Sapa. It was kind of nice to see where they prepare their meals, after seeing how most people handle food in Vietnam, I was happy to know that my meals where handled in a clean environment.

I had a nice view of the lake from my bedroom and considering what I paid per night, I think I got the best deal in town.

I usually like providing pros and cons of every place i stayed at but I have to say that I was quite impressed with the service and the value I received at Sapa Lakeview Hotel.
I stayed here for a week and I was very happy with the facilities of this hotel. The beds are very comfortable, the flat screen tv has English channels, there is even a heater in the room...After traveling through Hanoi and Cat Ba and not having a heater in the bedroom finding one in this hotel was the best present I've ever received. Also, all the furniture in the bedroom is completely new. Another great plus was having an electric kettle and tea in the bedroom and something unique was the fruit. I have been traveling for 6 months non stop and I have never found fruit in any of the hotels room I stayed before, so i was kind of sweet of them to do that....Also, I noticed a really good smell when I opened the door.

With regards breakfast, there are 4 kind of breakfast options and they all taste very good. I got the time to get to talk to the owners for a bit and I found out that the husband is a chef, no wonder why all the food is above standard and having free breakfast included in the rate was a steal.

Overall, I have had one of the best experience staying at this hotel. I would encourage anyone that looks for good quality of beds, great customer service and excellent food.

It was cold and raining when we arrived at the hotel around noon. It started snowing heavily that night in Sapa - we were told it was the first time in decades and yet they didn't turn on the heating in the lobby/restaurant. We ate our meals in the freezing cold and the rooms were no better. We received one weak fan heater and slept in a cold, draughty room.

The bathroom was old, rusty and stained. There was lukewarm water and it was so weak - took ages to wash out shampoo!

The only good thing about this place is the location. There are heaps of other hotels in Sapa. Go somewhere else.

My fiancé and I stayed for one night at the Lake View hotel in Sapa, Vietnam. There were no reviews on trip advisor but the price (15 USD per night) for a double room seemed very reasonable. The room was very comfortable with an ensuite, hot, rainforest shower and complimentary fruit, water, tea etc. Sapa can get cold, as it was when we visited, however the room was equipped with a fan heater, which was more than enough to keep the room warm. The staff are very friendly and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Sapa and for the price is excellent value.

I have traveled with family to sapa by train from hanoi during Tet festive season. When we arrived at hotel lobby 6am, the hotel was locked. Our local guide has to call the staff to unlock the door. Its seems that there was a shortage of staff, hence there was no meals from the hotel on the day of our arrival. The local tour guide arranged all the meals at the central of sapa.

Our room has a cup that was chipped on the side. (see photo) The kettle in the room was rusty. (see photo) There was no hot water , weather was cold during the period of our stay. Although there was a coil heater in the room, it looked unreliable to be switched throughout the night. We slept in the our sleeping bag to keep warm at night.

Furthermore, we were informed by local guide that the breakfast was 7-9am on the next day. On the following day, when we went down to lobby at 8:10am, there were nothing ready. (see photo) The staff would then started to boil water , cooked noodle soup and made coffee at our request. :(

In addition, the night when we arrived was the eve of Tet, it was rowdy and noisy at midnight. The next day, we saw the shells of peanut and empty beer cans on the table of main hotel lobby. (see photo) Apparently, the staff celebrated Tet at the main lobby.

Overall experience was terrible.

The Sa Pa hotel, overlooking the lake, is nicely presented. However the room we stayed in for one night was a bit disappointing - the paintwork was patchy on one wall, we were not able to access hot water during our stay, and my sister received a small shock from the power point so we decided not to touch it again or recharge our camera/iPad (dodgy wiring seems endemic in Vietnam, however). Apart from that, the beds were firm but comfortable, we slept well, there was enough room to spread out our luggage, the minibar fridge was useful for chilling our drinks, and there was quite a nice view of the lake from the large balcony running around the outside. The staff were very competent and spoke good English. The set breakfast was fairly nice although the omelettes were a little oily.
After one night we took off to a homestay in Ta Phin (which was fantastic, by the way) and the hotel happily stored our larger luggage while we were away. When we returned we decided to move to a different hotel, mostly because we wanted a warm shower. The Sapa hotel was in a fairly good location, only about a 10 minute walk from the markets. Given the cold showers, it was not the best value for the 30 USD we paid - for just a few more dollars we found better. If they had provided hot water it would be fine. To be fair, we did not complain about the water, so didn't give them a chance to rectify the problem.

Room Tip: Check the room before you settle in and if you're not happy, do ask the staff if you can change...
