There is indeed a new building going up right next to this hotel, so there is considerable construction noise. The work is just starting so it may be a couple of years. The hotel is fine, although furnishings and style are somewhat dated. Breakfast is good, including an egg or noodle station making to order. The location is very good, just off the main street near shops and restaurants.

Room Tip: Get a room on the 6th floor for the best view and any room numbered above x20 will put you on the si...

After the long and tiring journey from Hanoi, we had asked for an early check-in as the train arrives at 6.50am but they were not able to provide this, even though the hotel was surely not fully booked (low-season). But we couldn't have slept anyway, as the entire hotel was rocked by jack-hammer noise from a construction site on the straight adjacent plot.
Only the staff at the reception was friendly all others seemed bored rather unwilling to work.
The rooms are spacious but definitely need refurbishment. Cushions and day-blanket had plenty of stains from previous mosquito bites but is you wanted to use the available 'mosquito killer' you had to pay an extra fee.
The view from the balcony was stunning even through the dust clouds of the construction site, but the bench on the balcony was so low and uncomfortable that you couldn't even sit for 5 minutes.
Private pick-up service from and to train-station was great even though the road was quite scary.

This is decent hotel but the hotel is getting a bit older and you can see/feel this. The rooms are clean but the furniture is getting a bit older. The views from the rooms (we got Deluxe mountain view rooms) are great but the terrace is on the small side. It would be great to have a rooftop terrace with the same view where you can relax and have a drink. The swimming pool is very small and not one to relax. The breakfast was very complete. So, I would stay here again but don't expect a lot. Think most hotels in Sapa are very similar.

This hotel really know how to do a buffet breakfast with omelettes and eggs to order. The hotel has good facilities with a day spa and is in a really great location, close to shops and eateries. Rooms are spacious with good views of the rice paddies and the staff are excellent and very helpful. We stayed here because we were on a Handspan Tour and this is one of their preferred hotels and we were really happy.

We spent the last 2 nights of our stay in Vietnam in this delightful hotel. It is ideally situated in the heart of Sapa and is handy to restaurants and market. Our room was very comfortable and our balcony looked out over the nearby hills. The restaurant provided a very good breakfast selection and the view out the windows was superb as the mist lifted to reveal the beautiful hillside.

Thinking of travelling Sapa then I would recommend the Chau Long Sapa Hotel II. There are only two 4 Star hotels in Sapa and this is one of them. If you review the price of the two then this one will win hands down. It may be 4 star but your not paying through the nose for it.

We booked a our train trip up to Sapa on the Sapaley Train which was also wonderful. It is a 5 star train with fluffy white linen, slippers, TV and toiletries supplied. I strongly recommend you email the hotel prior to your stay and organise transfer with them to have a car waiting for you on arrival at the station. The ease and not having to worry at 6am in the morning is nice.

The hotel is magnificent and overlooks the mountains. The rooms are big, clean and ours had a lovely balcony overlooking the hills.

Breakfast didn't let us down. With a large dinning area, a wall fall of glass window overlooking the hills and to watch the fog clear the hill tops each morning. Food was bountiful and great. Flavors were wonderful with a great selection of everything. Staff would wait on you with a smile. Nothing bad could be said. Fill up and fuel yourself for a great day of exploring.

We booked a treatment for the family in the spa to relax. A nice massage each and the girl also topped it off with a pedicure. Can't exactly remember the price but it was around $10 - $15 each. Which was nothing really.

We booked some scooters / motor bikes at a little place up the road. $4 for the day and took off to explore for ourselves. Sapa is so quiet and nothing like the big cities, so you can definitely do this. I doubled my daughter on the back and really you can't go very fast anyway.

Recommend organising a guided tour with the hotel. We booked a 1/2 day walking tour into the local villages and our guide was beautiful. She took us into her local village and we met her mother. Be prepared that you will be followed by locals, wearing traditional costumes wanting you to purchase their goods. Hold off until the last minute as the prices do come down. Just be friendly with them and talk. They are lovely and just trying to get money to feed their families. The hotel does prepare a lunch pack for you included in the price. A sandwich or breadroll filled, fruit, yoghurt, juice, water. We all kept our water but as we sat down to eat our lunch the local kids were around. We ended up sharing our lunch with them. They loved it and I believe I go more out of that experience then I would of the food. Be prepared there are some stairs but its a relatively easy walk. My friend has problems with his knees and he did have some trouble going down, but going up was easy. They are big long wide and long stairs and not steep. Our trek ended up at a school where we went in and talked with the kids They were on their lunch break and so happy and curious. A small van cane and picked us up to take as back to the hotel, which was nice after a long day.

I recommend you make the trek to Sapa and would strongly recommend the Cha Long Sapa Hotel II

This hotel is ideally located, with amazing views over the surrounding hillsides - and an easy uphill stroll to many shops, restaurants, and the lively market. The staff are very helpful, and willing to please.

Our room was a bit disappointing. It looked like it might've been quite special at some point, but has started to fade a bit. Things like taps coming off in your hand, 2 of 3 lamps in the room not working, lead you to think that the place isn't being looked after. The lack of air conditioner is a bit of a concern - even though the summer temps are nowhere near those of Hanoi or HCMC. There is a ceiling fan, which does what it can!! We were unwilling to leave the windows open, due to fear of mozzies - so the room was quite warm/stuffy overnight. Other rooms may have aircon - not sure. Ours certainly didn't.

The restaurant is very good, with wonderful views. The breakfast spread is remarkable - and I can recommend the omelets! We didn't have dinner or lunch here. We also didn't use the spa area, due to communication issues!!

The bar area has several computers available, with questionable internet (patience required!!). It also has a pool table and a TV set at a deafening level!!

Staff were happy to extend to a later check-out, to correspond with transport to the train - for a cost. A 5pm check-out cost USD 40.

In short, it would appear that there are better places to stay in this delightful (if touristy) town.
