“Unique experience in Sa Pa”
Reviewed October 3, 2013

Chose this Hotel by the reviews on Trip Advisor. We were definitely not disappointed. As per earlier comments the views from the hotel were simply stunning. The staff are eager to please, helpful and genuine. Phil encouraged us to try something different - go with a guide to visit an H'Mong family in their home. We bought food at the local market and arrived at the village where we visited with a women and her three daughters. We were warmly greeted and embraced by the family. We helped prepare a delicious meal, enjoyed some rice wine or "happy water" and engaged in some incredibly open and honest conversation about life, marriage and raising a family. It was a truly humbling experience. We would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants an authentic cultural exchange.

Room Tip: We requested a family room - 1 king bed and 1 king single which was perfect. The view from our room...

I've stayed here for 2 days. The hotel has an incredibly great view at the lobby. You will definitively be able to take a picture of fog or fresh cloud surrounding a row of connected imposing mountains. The price isn't expensive in my opinion. Foods are pretty good but not many options for Europe-style like me (even thought I'm a Vietnamese guy). Wireless is really good.

Only one thing I'd complain is the quality of TV channel. It's really bad so I couldn't watch Premier League.

Thanks for your review Thuan,

Its great to hear that you loved the panoramic view from our hotel. We live here and we still appreciate the beauty everyday.

With regards to the TV channel choices, this is a Sapa wide issue at present. We are working hard on trying to find a solution. I hate missing my beloved Manchester United games too!

We had a fantastic stay at the H'Mong Sapa Hotel. We arrived on the overnight train from Hanoi so were very grateful to be given our room when we arrived in the morning rather than having to wait until check-in time. The staff were friendly and very helpful. We had our room upgraded to a VIP suite which had the most amazing views of Sapa. The hotel is walking distance to town, but slightly out of the hustle and bustle.

We stayed there for one night whilst on a visit to Sapa just recently. We were picked up at the train station at 6.30am and riven to the hotel where we were greeted so warmly and given out room straight away which was wonderful after an all night train ride

Hotel was very comfortable, view was amazing, close to town and the staff could not be more helpful. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

The hotel overlooks the valley and the views are absolutely stunning.

It is a small, but steep walk up from town.

The staff are very very friendly and want you to make the most out of your time there.

We were provided with an early check in (very welcome after the night train) and a late check out on leaving. This was extremely helpful.

The breakfast is very good.

Overallm cant say enough good things about this one - pound for pound, probably the best we stayed in travelling for nearly a month in Laos and Vietnam.

We were fortunate enough to arrive in Sapa with no agenda (or hotel booking) and spent one morning wandering around the city to view various hotel prospects. In the end, we booked with Hmong Sapa Hotel because of the following (in no particular order):

1) the views were amazing (beware that some hotels will advertise a mountain view, but all you get is a view obstructed by a grassy hill...guess that means they weren't lying either)
2) staff was extremely attentive and English was more than sufficient
3) it was up the hill a little, and therefore away from the noises of the town (honking)
4) the room was clean, modern/nicely decorated, and quite western (mostly meaning that it didn't have fluorescent lights and the shower was separated from the rest of the bathroom)
5) we had a private terrace with a full view. The dining terrace had an incredible view as well.

The hotel offered us an upgrade on the room for free (hence the terrace). Given all the points above, this was certainly a great deal. We loved it so much we stayed for 5 days. Koala and the lady at the front desk (I never got her name) definitely made sure we felt like we were at home. Additionally, the hotel never pressured us to take their tours, which is a plus.

Only downside: coffee at the hotel was so-so. Being in a place like Vietnam, we expected better.

Note: there is a laundry place across the street that was fantastic and cheap: 15,000 VND/kilo clothes AND 30,000 VND to wash your shoes. Believe me, you will want to wash your shoes after a trek. She did our shoes same day, they look like new!
