“Very impressive resort!”
Reviewed January 2, 2010

The Victoria Sapa was absolutely amazing and was everything you would expect of a high end resort. Wonderful facilities, rooms were always clean and the beds extremely cozy, amazing balcony views, and fast and friendly service. We loved the location, on site up hill and the experience, especially the wildlife on site, and would 100% come back again when we next travel to Sapa.

We stayed at Victoria Sapa for 4 nights and we booked it together with the train. We had a private 2 berth cabin on the train which we upgraded for on the spot. The ride was comfortable but loud. We also upgraded for a private cabin on our way back. In Lao Cai we got met by our guide who took us in a private car to Victoria Sapa. The hotel itself is really nice and clean. Chalet decor and style. We were in a top floor deluxe room with stunning views of the hotel, mountains and parts of Sapa town. Breakfast was great with a wide variety of foods. One day we ordered room service dinner (springrolls, and the Sapa mushroom soup) it was not good at all and really expensive, so for the next few days we opted out to eat at local restaurants in town, which was a great choice.

I'll start off by mentioning I did not actually stay in the hotel, but rather went to the Spa. I will note that the hotel was set in a gorgeous spot on top of the hill overlooking Sapa and it seemed quite nice. (saw the lobby, spa, pool area & grounds)
Massages are very cheap in Vietnam, and can be quite hit or miss. When my back & legs were sore after a long hike through the mountains of Sapa, I didn't want to gamble with one of the $6 storefront massages. At the Victoria Sapa Hotel, I received one of the best massages I've ever had for $55 (90 minutes). Although this is steep for Vietnam, it's clearly a bargain compared to American spas and was worth every dollar (or dong!). The spa facilities are first class - probably not quite as posh as a 5 star American spa (the massage rooms are separated with dividers versus individual rooms) but the massage experience was first class. My masseuse was trained in Hanoi and perfected the techniques of reflexology, thai massage and swedish massage. His professionalism put me at ease the entire time, and my muscle aches & pains literally dissolved. It was equivalent to or better than a massage at a top spa in New York City.
After the treatments, there is a relaxation rooms, a pool and a well-appointed locker room with steam room & sauna.

We arrived in Sapa from the overnight train Litrivan express from Hanoi.
We are a family with 2 boys aged 5 and 10. We stayed at the Victoria for 3 nights and 2 nights in Topas ecolodge. I felt the Victoria Hotel was extraordinarily expensive for what it was. We had a family suite and it was around $300 US. Lots of elederly people so defineately not a younger hang out.
The hotel is nice but not worth the cost. The pool was way too cold, it is not heated as specified on the website. It also is not attached to the hotel. Not enough internet connections and you had to wait about an hour to use from the queue. I felt it is a bit dated and needs a revamp, expecially for the price (the most expensive hotel we stayed at in vietnam)
The day we arrived it was clear but for the remainder of the holiday the visibility was terrible. You could not see 1 metre in front of you.
The breakfast is nice though, but it extra $5US to buy a vietnamese coffee which you would think they would provide for free. Also the tiger beers are about $5US and you can get the for about $1US anywhere else.
If I were to do it again I would spend 1 night in Sapa then travel to Topas ecolodge for 2 nights. We did come across some other nice hotels in Sapa including the Cha Cha gardens hotel.
We ate at several restaurants in town and they were not as exciting as other places we ate at in Vietnam. Although if you want a brilliant Italian resturant go to Delta, we went twice and the wine is resonable and good!
For treks go to Topas travel in Sapa. They have good treks and guides. We went to Cau Cau Markets on a Saturday. Brilliant, do not miss and the trek at the end to get to the boat ride is unbelievable. Victorias excursions are double anywhere else and a big bus tours whereas you can get private tours anywhere elese for much cheaper.
Our transfers from Lai Cai to Sapa wer booked thru Topas travel as well. Much cheaper than the Victoria were offering.
But overall it is a must to go to Sapa but I wouldnt do any less than 3 nights in total. You really need the time to go to the markets and a couple of treks. Sapa was the hightlight of Vietnam.

We chose this hotel for a two night stay, following an excellent previous stay at a sister establishment in Siem Reap, Cambodia. We did not feel that the hotel in Sapa was quite as good as the one in Cambodia, but still provided high standards and an enjoyable stay.

The design of the building is very much in keeping with the area, and the high location provides good views over the town. The bedrooms built round a central garden area were excellent, and the range of varying lounge areas ideal for relaxing. Wood burning fires in the public areas added to the comfort. The large fenced "garden" for pet rabbits was also an interesting feature.

We had one dinner in the restaurant, where the meal was very good, but we also felt it to be expensive.

All staff were friendly and helpful, providing very good levels of service.

Overall a very good experience.

My partner and I stayed at this hjotel for 2 nights and were disappouinted. For the price ($170/night) We expected a lot better than what Victoria delivered. This hotel is looking very tired and very much in need of a face-left. The rooms are nothing flash. When we stayed it was freezing cold and very foggy. Yet the heaters in the rooms are terrible and don't do an adequate job of heating the rooms. The computer provides 2 free computers for Internet use - they shoud supply 10-12 given the amount of rooms/guests they have.
Breakfast was good and the hotel is in a good position - but until they renovate the place - then we wouldn't suggest that it's any value for money.

We had a great time at Victoria Sapa resort. We have been there just for a night during our short holiday with sapaluxurytravel tour operator. They did excellent job to create an unforgettable trip for us to visit Sapa area and Halong Bay . Bliss ! Victoria is just beautiful. The rooms and hotel facilities are superb. Each room has a balcony overlooking the gardens. The service was great as well. And the breakfast is the best we experienced during our stay in Vietnam . We also travelled on the Victoria Express to/from the hotel which is basically a special wagon added on the back of the normal Vietnamese Railways train to/from Lao Cai. Great food, terrific staff and a great night sleep in comfortable berths! The amenity kit was also a very nice touch! Keep up the good work. We are fully recommended Victoria name and sapaluxurytravel company to every traveller !
