“Best Spa in Sapa”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 30, 2014 via mobile

We enjoyed a great spa treatment and hot shower after a long day of hiking. It was very professional unlike some of the other places in town where they offer cheap massages in a small living room.
The price is about 50 USD for 90 minutes if you do the Victoria Signature special.

We used the Victoria Train to get to Sapa and although a bit noisy and bouncy at times it was a pleasant enough journey
On arrival at the hotel check in was very easy and we were soon shown our room. A ground floor room with a patio looking out on to the beautiful gardens and the town of Sapa. The room was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Staff were always very attentive and always had a smile for you.
During our stay it was my wife's birthday and one of the staff surprised her by presenting her with a birthday cake from the hotel.
Breakfasts were always very good with plenty of choice. We had one evening meal at the hotel which was very good if a little on the expensive side.
I highly recommend this hotel if staying in Sapa.

We took the overnight Victoria train from Hanoi and were lucky enough to be able to book the two berth carriage so had no problems regarding sharing or lack of space. The journey was comfortable and we slept well.
From Lao Cai (the train terminus) it takes about one hour by road to Sapa along some very windy roads.
On arrival we were given our room straight away, which we really appreciated. It was a good room overlooking the delightful gardens. It had all the usual amenities and a balcony which we were able to use as the sun shone all the time we spent here. The bathroom was a little dated but everything was clean and well maintained.
Staff was good, efficient and friendly and we had no problems with lack of English.
Our meal in the restaurant was excellent and we were asked if we wanted to sit by the fire or by the window. Breakfast was also good.
We cannot comment on tours/transfers arranged by the hotel as we had arranged ours through Sapa O'Chau, a volunteer organization which strives to help the local hill tribe people.
After checking out we were able to use the excellent pool just up the road where we sunbathed until our transfer back to the station.
There are probably lots of good hotels in Sapa but the Victoria stands out as being the most luxurious.

We travelled to Sapa as two families with 4 adults and 6 children ranging 2-11 y.o. I was pleasantly surprised by resort's provisions for kids including family suites with nice 3 beds for children in addition to large bed for parents, children playground and even rabbits which were favourites of my younger daughter. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. Pleasant service. A little pricy but worth it. Highly recommended.

If you have the cash stay here, its high, well presented and treats you like a king/queen. Really well placed, affordable and clean and tidy.
I cant get over the fact that when we opened are balcony door the cloud came in and went out the front door.
Luckily the first day there was clear skies and we got some amazing photos.
The hotel is top of the range and treats u as such.
But as always Beware the Whingeing Pom there where heaps of them.
Luckily we are Aussies.

We took the overnight Victoria Train from Hanoi. The two of us had a very attractive private berth decorated with traditional Sapa tapestries. Unfortunately my husband is 6'2" tall which is more than the length of the bed so he didn't have the best nights sleep. Had a drink in the club car before bed which was nice. Really enjoyed the train experience. After four misty days in Hanoi we were greeted to 75 degrees dry and sunny. So grateful. Upon arrival we were driven to the Victoria Sapa Resort and were able to check in at 9:30. We had a third floor suite with a balcony overlooking the village and the mountains. The room was beautiful and spacious. We had fruit and flowers in the room. Dinner was lovely and there were local dancers for entertainment while we ate. It was a little hard to see behind the tables. Could use a stage. You have to climb up a steep stair walkway to get from the village to the hotel. And then to go to the spa in another very steep walk. Had a manicure that was not as good as home for twice the money. Oh well it is a vacation. The service and breakfast were very nice and the grounds are attractive and well kept. If you have a chance go to Sapa. And if you are there on Sunday go to the Sunday Market.

Room Tip: Third floor suite with balcony.

We caught the LIvitrain to Sapa from Hanoi. We had paid for 4 berths to ensure that we had a cabin to ourselves. The journey was still a bit of a nightmare. However, we arrived at the hotel after a hair-raising ride from the station only to be told that we could not check in until 2.00pm (we arrived at 7.00am). We were offered the spa to shower and freshen up. We left our luggage in the hotel's baggage room while we then had a tour of the surrounding area until 2.00pm.

The room was comfortable on the 3rd floor (no lifts) and had a room safe in which we deposited passports and travel folders with our spare dollar cash (only keeping dong (vnd) on our person). The dollar cash was a relatively large sum of money in Vietnamese terms. We had no reason to access the room safe during our stay.

The hotel is up a steep hill (or extended stairway) from the main town. Taxis are available at a reasonable cost to get back to the hotel after dinner in the town. There are many hotels in the town which are just as good and would avoid the long walk to and from the town. Breakfast at the hotel OK but not elaborate - although adequate. The internal prices at the hotel are very pricey (including laundry) and there are a couple of shops closeby at reasonable prices - including a laundry at 1/4 of the price.

On checking out of the hotel a few days later, we extracted our travel wallets from the safe and our passports. A cursory check of the cash was made and appeared in order. On the train returning to Hanoi, we needed to access some dollars from our travel folders and discovered that ALL the high denomination notes (10, 20, 50, 100) were missing from both travel folders of both US and Australian Notes. Only the 1's & 5's remained which gave the impression that everything was there during a cursory look.

On reaching Hanoi, we reported the matter to the police who informed us that it was not their problem. We also reported the matter to Sapa police by an agent - but again they couldn't care less. They were not going to upset the hotel. The hotel completely disavowed any possibility of it happening in the hotel. There is no doubt that the money was stolen from the hotel as the travel wallets were with us at all other times. Bedroom doors have only manual keys (not electronic) and the safe master key was obviously available to staff. The hotel security is a problem and please be warned.

Room Tip: A hotel in the main town/village is better from a location point of view.

Dear AntarcticBound,

Thank you very much for your interest in our hotel.
We are really shocked to read your comment, especially after you received our answer and explanation, addressed to your travel agent and yourself.
It is also not fair from your side to bring an incorrect testimonial online, since you also tried to get your agent and even our support to claim the loss to an insurance company.
Our procedures don’t allow any staff to handle any codes, and as per policy, the right people to handle a situation of lost password or password issues, will be at least a supervisor level or higher, assisted by the duty manager, and witnessed by a security agent.
After watching carefully our video camera system, it appeared that only the room attendant did enter your room upon turndown. The room attendants have no code access to the safety boxes, they are checked every day at our security gate: there are many rules, a maximum cash money to be held and not exceeded in the pocket of uniform and civil clothes, and the obligation to check the personal bags and closets for our security team.
In addition, the audit trail recording of our safety boxes (Elsafe trail record) didn’t show any code reset or mastercode input for the safety box of your room, which means your safety box haven’t been opened by any person who didn’t know your code.
One more point: the safety box will not accept the same code from the guest, in case the mastercode has been used 1 time, but you used the safety until your departure time without any issue to report.
I am sorry to inform you that you did not lose your dollar notes in our safety box.

Despite your loss, we hope you enjoyed your Sapa experience.

Best regards
