“reasons for not goint to Victoria Sapa”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 26, 2013

the reception is frequently unattended - staff is not greeting of at the right english language level - receptionist is not coming back to you if you need something - price of the car to Lao Cai station varies day by day - rooms need refurbishment and bathrooms have scratched tiles - breakfast not at the level of a 4* - heating in the room was not working properly - the only reason to go to Victoria Sapa is the pool/spa (really good) and the location on the quiet side of the city.

Dear cathchris75,

Thank you for your review. It’s helping us getting some feedback, positive or negative, it is always very important to get honest point of view.
We are quite surprised about the comment on breakfast as we have a very high satisfaction rate. The Chef would have been happy to welcome you at his table to demonstrate his quality of 4 Star Hotel Chef.
Regarding Reception remarks, a meeting will be done followed by some trainings to improve as we must do at all times.
Once again, sorry to haven’t be able to satisfy you entirely and would be happy to welcome you again to show our professionalism.

Sincerely.

Victoria Sapa Resort and Spa is rated as the best hotel in Sapa. It is good. The rooms are large but the decor and facilities are dated - particularly the bathroom where to have a shower you have to climb over a very deep bath. The service from the reception desk to the dining room is very good. The buffet breakfast in the morning has a wide selection to choose from and will set you up for the rest of thed day. It is quite cool at night and it was quite a surprise to have the smoky open fires going in the guest lounge and dining room. The wi-fi service like most of the hotels we stayed in in Vietnam was very good. The location in the shadow of Vietnams tallesy mountain is delightful with great views over the town of Sapa. They offer guided walking tours into the surrounding countryside. Walks into the rice terraces in the sapa Valley are recommended.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the town are to be preferred

Dear itho9217,

The staff and the management is happy to read your review and comments.
Please note that we will renovate the hotel bathrooms within a year to respond to guests expectation, keeping the mountain spirit in the design as the open fire log in the lobby, bar and restaurant.
If you enjoyed the breakfast, you would love the lunch or dinner. Our French Chef is cooking Northern Vietnamese dishes and some Western favorites, it will be a pleasure for him to welcome you in our restaurant.
Our partners from the travel desk are offering different kind of activities, from the short trek to the full day sportive tour in the rice fields.
The Resort has some packages and promotion to offer you the best!
We are looking forward to welcoming you again in the Alps of the Tonkin.

Very beatiful location and beautiful views when fog doesn't hide everything around.
But bathrooms need to be renovated.
Many thanks to Nguyen Thu Huong the restaurant manager: very professional and very helpful.
Restaurant is good (a little expensive but good).

Hotel was superb. Staff very accommodating. Room view is best in Sapa. We had a massage by very experienced and well trained staff. The breakfast and dinner was quite good. We got a late checkout so we could enjoy our time further. There are less expensive places but the town is very busy and the horns re always honking. The location of the hotel separates you

The hotel is in a beautiful location with beautiful views over the town. The breakfast buffet is excellent. The rooms are not airconditioned so they were very hot when we returned from day trips and had done a lot of walking in the heat and humidity. There is no exhaust fan in the bathroom. Walking up and down the stairs to the town was not a problem but it may be an issue for some people. There are cheaper hotels that would offer better value for money.

Dear Annabelle53

It is a pleasure to see that you promote the Hotel for its location and its breakfast.
Our Deluxe rooms and Suites are equipped with a ceiling fan which is good to refresh the room, even in summer time.
We offer to all of our guests a premium experience, all our team works in order to satisfy your requests through our services and products as the Spa, the Restaurant, the private Victoria Express Train.
We wish you to keep a good memory about your time in Sapa and the area.

Beautiful balconies with beautiful views over the mountains and lake. Nice heated pool with some gym equipment. Room was not ready on our arrival, but this is to be expected as train gets in very early. Rooms are reasonable, but NOT air-conditioned, and bathroom is a little outdated, with no exhaust, and with the shower in the bath, plastic curtain, and temperature of the water fluctuates while showering. Plus it would have been nice to have our towels changed during the three days. Because the hotel is up high, there are many steps to negotiate going up and down to the village, so if mobility is an issue, this is a consideration. However, motorbike taxis are very cheap. Excellent breakfast.

Dear Colgeo,

Thank you reviewing us on Tripadvisor and being constructive.
It is a pity to hear that your towels haven’t been changed during your stay with us as it isn't respecting our quality charter, we will work with our housekeeping team to avoid repeating this issue.
As the Hotel is up the hill, indeed, you can enjoy a unique view from your room and balcony. For the transportation downtown, a stair case can be used, otherwise, our bellboys will be happy to drive you down the hill and pick you up with our golf buggy.
We do hope to welcome you again at the Victoria Sapa Resort & Spa.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 14, 2013

Arriving in March to find a fire blazing in the lobby fireplace was a bit of a surprise after the heat of Hanoi! It is typical of the little touches that make this remote resort so memorable: a tribal costume display in the lobby; madeleines, macarons and almond croissants at breakfast; caged rabbits to amuse the children; bathroom heaters, etc.. We have now come to expect that resorts belonging to the Victoria Vietnam Group will be special, having stayed at the Victoria Chau Doc Resort.

The lobby fire was deceptive, as the temperature didn't require any extra clothing. My wife and I had just one night in a Deluxe Room, overlooking the manicured landscaping, and the town. From our balcony, we could sit and be inspired by the highest mountain in all Indochina. An enclosed pool was a short uphill stroll.

Downhill are the Sapa shops and restaurants, all within easy walking distance. Impressed by the extensive buffet breakfast, we opted for dinner in the spacious hotel restaurant, and had the pleasure of chatting with the French chef. We did enjoy his trout, and wished we could have had longer at this wonderful spot!

Dear Billitchyfeet,

We appreciate reading your constructive review. We are satisfied to see that we served you as you desired.
Indeed, the Victoria Sapa Resort & Spa is designed as a chalet using local touched to décor the interiors, which match the environment.
Because we want all our guests to enjoy, we pay special attention to everyone we host!
The French Chef liked the fact that you were delighted by experiencing his signature dish, the Sapa Trout Filet!
Once again thank you for your review and will be happy to welcome you again in the Alps of the Tonkin.
