Victoria Sapa Resort and Spa
Ranked #10 of 84 Hotels in Sapa
Reviewed October 27, 2012

We stayed 2 nights at Victoria Hotel. Defective soundproofing. Good service. We did not use the spa and pool but they seem to be of a high quality although the prices further care are totally prohibitive. Nice hotel but still not worth its 4 stars and practice rates too high for the services offered. The atmosphere is very friendly, the rooms comfortable. Generally slightly higher price compared to the local.

We stayed 3 nights at The Victoria Hotel Sapa. Our room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. Unfortunately it was a little noisy due to building construction nearby our room. We didn't appreciate the jack hammer starting up around 6:30am each morning. However this was out of the hotel's control so we wore it. On reflection we should have asked for a room further away from the building site.
The staff were friendly and offered excellent service and managed to get us into our room quickly after our gruelling train ride. Much appreciated. We had breakfast included in our booking and it offered an excellent selection. On the first day we arrived early from the train and had to buy our breakfast which was US$20 each, which we thought was a bit steep. We should have eaten breakfast elsewhere in town. However seeing as the Victoria Hotel placed us in our room early at no charge it compensated for the pricey brekky. So really we shouldn't complain. However for those reading this review be aware there are much cheaper and just as tasty options for meals in town. All the meals we had at the Victoria were excellent however albeit on the expensive side.
Victoria Hotel also had great views.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from nearby construction sites.

We arrived here after an overnight train trip from Hanoi, very tired after a night not that well slept. Even though the check-in time is after 14, we got to our rooms at 10 and the staff was sorry we couldn't get in earlier. We were also offered the use of the spa facilities before check-in and after check-out (our train left quite late, checkout was at 12).
The rooms were pretty standard but clean and good. One minus for the wifi not working in any of our rooms, even after we mentioned it to the staff.
The location is great and the sauna at the spa was a positive surprise.
The breakfast was also excellent.
The biggest hiccup occurred when we were leaving. We had booked a private car from the hotel, but no car was there when the time came. We waited for an extra 15 minutes, and then went to ask about the car. Somehow it seemed they had completely forgotten it. So it took another extra 10 or so minutes until the car arrived. It wasn't a big deal though since we had reserved some extra time anyways.

We arrived here after An overnight train journey and it was a welcome sight! W were given a lovely cup of cinnamon tea to welcome us. Our room was lovely, and well appointed.
We ate breakfast in the hotel every day and would recommend it.
The staff were very helpful.
The views are great when the weather allows!
It is the place I would recommend stopping in Sapa

Dear Ludo2323,

It is a pleasure to read your review.

Indeed, Sapa area is worthwhile. With its unique mountains and fabulous ethnics, there is plenty of things to do around.

Service is very important for us, and we are happy that you mentioned it.

Our French Chef is cooking Vietnamese and Western gastronomy and is always welcoming the guests in the dining room.

We will be happy to welcome you again at the Victoria Sapa Resort & Spa.

Great hotel and great location. Expensive for our budget, but a worthwhile treat. Fabulous staff, great facilities and service. Because of our budget we chose all the activities we did in Sapa outside of the hotel, and this worked very well for us. A highlight was the return train ride on the fabulous Victoria express. Again outside our budget range, but a definite worthwhile treat. I would do again. Travelling as a couple I would definitely recommend a cabin to yourself, too little space to share with strangers. Thoroughly recommended.

Thank you very much for your valuable review.

It is good to hear that you enjoyed your stay in Sapa, at the Victoria. The Resort can organize for your some excursions. They are all private, with a local tour guide, a driver and a car. We will adapt the tour to your expectations.

The Victoria Express Train is a part of the experience here in the Alps of the Tonkin.

We recommend you to visit our website to discover the packages including the room and the journey on board of the Train.

We look forward to welcome you again.

The hotel property is beautiful. It is strikingly beautiful actually. The rooms are very comfortable (but COLD), the view is georgeous, and the fireplaces add a touch of home to the location. However their solution for problems (esp multiple to one person) is poor. Their answer is sorry. Personally waking up with a cockroach mounting my face in their train car was unacceptable. When our toilet was leaking via that handle onto the floor, they took over an hour to arrive. The internet over the entire time we were there was not working and I asked over 8 times for assistance to make it work and it was never properly solved. Being in grad school I was counting on the internet that was so proudly advterised. Finally as they came to work on the leaky toilet, lack of hot water to take a shower, and lack of internet (arriving an hour later) they left the door to the room open the entire time so it was fridgid in the room. Honestly they seem like an awesome hotel as long as everything goes smoothly, but any problems cannot be controlled.

Room Tip: ask them to fumigate your train car first

Dear saxycam,

Thank you for noticing the beauty of the Hotel, this is appreciated.
First of all, we understand that it is unusual and unacceptable in our property to have those problem.
Since your stay, training have been made, and responsibilities token.
Heaters and extra blankets are available upon request and a monthly pest control is performed to avoid this kind of issue.
In order to compensate the unpleasantness, we do hope that you enjoyed the cocktails at the bar and the VIP treatment in our train during the way back to Hanoi, unfortunately you didn't have time to enjoy the late check out on the day of departure from the Hotel.
To prove our honesty and transparency, it will be a pleasure to welcome you in one of our properties to show our professionalism and passion for hospitality.
