After a warm welcome in front of the Victoria Express Train and a surprisingly good night in the train, the hotel was our perfect place to rest after trekking. The room was nice, though a bit noisy because our door was facing the street. Service was very attentive, especially in the restaurant. Overall, everything was good and much welcome after trekking.
Last but not least, the excursions offered by the travel agency linked with the hotel were faultless. Their guide Dung is very nice, speaking English fluently and he is a real local Hmong, knowing well all the mountains. A real pleasure to trek with.

After the previous night on the train this was a welcome stop - particularly the bed. All amenities were first rate and the staff excellent. The location could not have been better. The steam and sauna rooms certainly were relaxing after a day of tramping though local villages.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a suite - it's well worth it and doesn't cost that much extra

Dear GDMAUS,

It is a pleasure to read your review.
In the Alps of the Tonkin, the pleasure to walk in the mountains and discover the local culture is equal to the pleasure to enjoy the Hotel services after a day of trek.
Indeed, the fire place and amazing teas in the bar area, the cozy rooms with good mattresses, the Sauna / steam bath and Spa treatments, are designed to make your stay unique.
Our staff is available for you from the beginning till the end as you can have a memorable experience with us.
We will be very happy to welcome you again in fascinating Sapa!

This might be an unfair comparison as we came to Sapa afer spending a few nights in 2 really nice hotels. The Victoria is just ok, which is a little disappointing given some of the excellent reviews.
Facilities: the beds are comfortable, but the rooms overall are very "tired" and in need of a face lift: old bed cover and curtains, walls could be repainted, shower in the tub and with limited water pressure.
Service also not great: most staff was just polite and very distant.
on the plus side: free wireless everywhere, and the SPA area - where we took a shower before leaving - also good.
We got to Sapa by train, and the Victoria coach is as nice and comfortable as it can get on a train....so probably still worth staying at the Victoria if you want to have comfortable trip in and put of Sapa.

We only stayed for one night in Sapa and thuroughly enjoyed our stay at the Victoria Hotel. After one week of really hard mattresses in the North East of Vietnam a regular western mattress was really welcome. The room was spacious clean and quiet overlooking the garden, breakfast the following morning was excellent. The only negative note was the lack of any cardio fitness machines in the health club area which I would have welcomed after really long days sitting in the car.

It was lovely to stay at this resort. It was just a little off the man road so it felt a bit more relaxed. The pool is inside and very relaxing. The steam and sauna rooms are all included in the price as well and beautifully maintained. We didn't use the spa treatments as they more much pricier than the street ones. However, if you want to indulge in a full massage or a peaceful treatment then use this facility rather than the street side shops.
The rooms are nice and again clean. We had a bottom level room facing the garden. This was perfect as there is construction in town and you don't want your balcony facing out to it if you want a peaceful break. Lots of goodies in the room like toothbrush, water etc.
Breakfast was plentiful and much to choose from. There is no soy milk in the hotel so you need to buy your own from the street shops. Soy milk does not seem to be well known in hotels in Vietnam.
You can hire a motor bike from the hotel, but you may find cheaper options in the street. All come with helmets. ABout $4.00 is a reasonable price for a day.
Staff are lovely and we would be happy to stay here again.

Room Tip: Choose a two birth sleeper on the Victoria Express if you want comfort and quiet.
