This was a total waste of money and pathfinder would not refund anything. You can walk to Cat Cat in a few minutes and pay less than $5 to do it yourself. We paid a lot for a whole day hike to Cat Cat have lunch hike to Sin Chai walk back to Cat Cat (total 7 km hiking) and then get a Jeep back to Sapa and have dinner. Our guide Truong told us Sin Chai was no good so called for the minibus at Cat Cat as we finished lunch. So we had a 3 hour tour total Instead of all day.
We got back to our room I emailed the Viet tour agent in Ho Chi Minh who booked it. Truong came to our room to try and force us to go to Sin Chai. I refused. He then told us which hotel was for dinner. Hotel Sapa Vista. The food was terrible. Our Hotel Sapa Unique Hotel has much better food and we would like to have stayed there instead because they were wonderful. Pathfinder kept coming up with excuses like why didn’t we take pictures of the horrible fatty duck!!! Don’t go with them find another group or go by yourself it is really easy from Sapa. They would not refund any money despite all the mistakes they made including Truong being too lazy to do the proper tour!!

We did the one day tour with Dao and we loved every minute of it. Dao really knows the area and the people. He is exceptional as a tour guide as well as being a very friendly and helpful person. He was very thoughtful and caring of us. Dao made the day so special for us and also gave lots of photography tips too as well as taking some for us. We would thoroughly recommend Dao as a tour guide . Thankyou Dao, we loved every moment of it.

We booked the two nights and three day tour with one night in a homestay and another in a hotel. The entire experience was fantastic, and our tour guide Lala was so friendly and helpful with great knowledge of the area and the treks we were going on. On the first day we trekked for 12km, stopping in two villages (Lao Chai being one of them in which we had lunch), and then Ta Van for the homestay. The trek was pretty tough but doable even for a non outdoorsy girl like me - top tip is to rent rubber boots. We were able to get them from the hotel we stayed at for 30,000 dong per day so an absolute bargain! Most people had trainers or trekking sandals on which got RUINED and covered in mud so the boots are a must! I was one of the few in the group who didn’t fall over! Homestay offered a great insight into Vietnamese culture so do this if you can! Great food too. Second day was much easier with just a 6k trek past a waterfall and then on to both Giang Ta Chai and Su Pan. Not as arduous in terms of trekking but still tough in places. Despite some of the trek being harder than anticipated (I.e. very muddy, steep, lots of rocks to climb), it was so much fun and I would do it again in a heartbeat! Scenery was outstanding, an experience I will never forget. Make sure you bring warm clothes for the evening as the temperature drops below 5 degrees in Nov/Dec! And be prepared for the ladies and children from the tribal villages who help you on the trek but then expect you to buy things from them at the end! We didn’t mind as some were so helpful and we genuinely would have struggled across some of the streams without them, but you will bankrupt yourself if you buy something from all of them so learn how to say no in a polite way!

Bought my elderly parents to Sapa (10 -12 November), and Sapa Pathfinder Travel for our day tour around Sapa.

Mr Tam, our travel guide welcomed us from the train station, took great care of both my elderly parents with his patience as well as his overwhelming enthusiasm in showing us his beloved hometown.

Great Thanks to Mr Tam for a really wonderful trip to Sapa. Will be back to trek up Fantasia when i have build up my stamina. Last but not least i will engage Mr Tam services when i am back there.

We started first day with trekking. Our group members are not really used to trekking so it was quite a struggle for some of us. But we had an excellent guide, Quang. His energetic, cheerful & friendly attitude made it so much more enjoyable and really help to push us forward.
Second day was hiking through Cat Cat. The view & experience was amazing. Really calm, peaceful & relaxing. And with Quang around with his very contagious fun attitude, the whole experience was magnified even more. Our team were quite slow & did a number of stops to enjoy the view & some coffee. We even did quite a number of shopping along the hike too! Quang was very patient with us & kept his joyful attitude throughout the hike. He even helped us to take many great group photos!
Highly recommend this tour & make sure to ask for Quang. Quang is the best guide we have come across throughout our many years of travelling experience.

Thank Matthew T
