we booked trip to Sapa at hotel thai Son grand, we stayed here for 2 nights and 2nights to come back Hanoi, personally i think this is best time to go to Sapa, it a bit sunny, a bit cloudy, a bit windy, really nice weather, we hang out without worry for shopping, sightseeing around, the staff show us many places to go, at night it lightly cold, enough to cover a bit mattress, . the night market nearby and we also skim for sunday market for an hours and come back station to back Hanoi, we also bought many souvenirs, but you should bargain for any items

Located on the street of Sapa town, near the wet market. Nice building, room without air-condition but cold and comfortable weather even during summer. Wifi a bit weak in room. Friendly stuff with good breakfast & dinner(arrange by my travel agent). Shop around close early, so be sure you buy anything you need before the day turn dark. Will highly suggest friend to stay here if visit Sapa.

We stayed here beginning of May. Were given a room with two single beds and single doonas pushed up against the wall but it had a balcony. View was lovely. Small wetroom with wooden platform to stand on which was very slippery for a 70 year old. We didnt complain until our last day when we saw our younger friends room who paid the same price. Lovely big room large bed in the middle of the room and not a wet room but larger bathroom with proper shower screen. The receptionist tried to tell us we had the dearer room!!! They offered to change our room but as it was our last night we couldn't be bothered. There was no water but this didnt worry us as our travel agent rang us and explained and she also rang the hotel while we were out trekking. When we came back the sullen staff had smartened up a bit and were smiling. A young man called David asked us for feedback the morning we were leaving. Said he had only been in charge 5 days and also there was a new owner. The hotel itself is in a good position and if we had been given our friends room no complaints although it does need a bit of tlc and the staff apart from one young man need to get their act together and smile. It costs them nothing. Be sure and have a look at the room first and not think Oh well, its Sapa and a long way up here. Hopefully David has made improvements. My daughter is going to Sapa in Jan but decided on another hotel so we will see how hers is. From memory my friends room was on the 3rd floor while we were on the 2nd

We loved it here, the room was amazing with a spectacular view. Far exceeded our expectations, based on what we paid. The room was enormous, with everything you could need. Location was good, staff helpful and friendly. Breakfast was great.

Room Tip: Choose the view room, it is well worth it. The view is unbeatable.

The hotel looks good and lovely. We reached early in the morning from Hanoi by overnight train. The breakfast, especially the coffee, chicken noodle, omelette and fruits certainly delighted us. Staff could only communicate in very little English. They took our passports and could only return after 8 pm that day (we could hardly understand the need). Bathroom has broken tap. Just as we were getting ready to shower after our Cat Cat Village trek around 4pm, we heard a loud knock and were told that water supply would be cut off with immediately effect and MAY resume only around late evening. We understand that is not the first incident - it happens during dry season. By 10pm, water supply had not resumed though there was water from a pipe just outside the entrance of the hotel. In order to flush our toilet, we had to use plastic bags to collect water. When we approach the hotel staff, they could only said, “whole Sapa is like that”. No help whatsoever was offered to make our stay more comfortable. That night we waited in vain for our badly needed shower. Next day, by the time we left for our Lao Chai trek at around 10 am, there is still no sign water from the tap. We understand from fellow travelers that water to their rooms did resume around midnight that same day. Hotel staff could do better by checking with guests to ensure their stay is comfortable and making alternative arrangement (like the use of another room) when the need arises.

Room Tip: Rooms at 2nd floor(those with view) have street cables running across the view.

This hotel was pretty nice. It had hot water, nice bathroom with a separate shower (though NOT all rooms are like that), a good breakfast with Western and Vietnamese food and comfy beds. The rooms were plenty spacious and each room has a fire place to help warm you up. The downers to my visit were that the power went out and it got cold in our room. When I asked for more firewood for the fire they said they were out. :( Also I don't think the room was as clean as it should have been. The view from our window was spectacular and the location of the hotel is in a quieter part of Sapa. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

Room Tip: Try to get a mountain view if you can. Also... if it's important to you, request a room that has...
