“somewhat lacking”
Reviewed October 29, 2013

Stayed 3 nights at this hotel & was somewhat disappointed overall.......

Early check in on arrival but considering that most tourists arrive on the overnight train from Hanoi you would think that should be the norm rather than exception ?

Stayed in standard room which was large in size but insufficient lighting made it rather dark.

Safety deposit box was ancient & key operated. Room keys (safe incl) were supposed to be handed into reception on leaving the hotel? So whoever had access to the safe??????

Kettle was supplied & also only 2 teabags - no milk/creamer & NO coffee!!!!

TV reception for English/European channels was appalling given there's little to do once it gets dark in SAPA . Shame we couldn't understand Vietnamese as some of those channels had excellent reception.

Power board for supply electricity to fridge/ TV/ PC was DANGEROUS!!!!! I saw blue sparks fly whenever we tried to connect the kettle (bought our own coffee from local supermarket) !!!!

Breakfast was VERY limited & basic indeed- consists of juice, tea/coffee , small selection of 2 fruits & only ONE CHOICE of pho OR pancakes OR egg & ham on some baguette.

Final night in Sapa we asked for late checkout the following day given that the return train to Hanoi was around 8pm. Informed of extra charges if we were to have this.......

Final morning in SAPA.....Maintenance work was carried out to some of the rooms with a jackhammer at 8 o'clock IN THE MORNING!!!! Really???? My husband then caught one workman looking through our window from the corridor outside. Last straw I think & after a few words were uttered which was accidentally seen by management, the noise did subside somewhat......To compensate for the noise & incident, we were later offered late check out at no extra cost.....ummmm

I expected more given the previous reviews,,,,,,,

**Dear Valued Clients,

Thank you very much for your review on Tripadvisor. We are receiving the contributions of customers to know which one we should upgrade in the room to do the better for next time.

For the noisy: We are sorry for that because in winter time of Sapa very cold, so we have to maintain our power system in hotel to set-up the new heater which very useful and important for the cold day.

Our free late check out as apology and you are happy with this. Also what a pity our hot and fresh breakfasts did not meet your expectation, we will do it for you better for the next time.

- We offered you early check in without any payment which in-fact you have to pay for that and safe key in room you can take it along with you or leave it at the reception desk because we alway available in here, so the things someone come to take it is impossible.

We look forward to welcoming your back at Sapa Luxury Hotel.

Yours sincerely

Our stay at this hotel was dogged by poor weather but the service provided by the staff here made up for it. We were on one of their tours and treated to an excellent upgraded room. (Exactly 99 steps!) The room was well heated and the electric blankets were most welcome!
Our being vegetarians presented a challenge to the restaurant but after some discussion they managed to provide us with an excellent set dinner. The restaurant does not seem to have much custom at night but is busy in the morning providing guests with a very nice breakfast.
Their tour is to be recommended....we particularly liked the fact that we were always asked if we wanted to leave at different times or do something different. We also managed to be ahead of the main tourist rush so had hikes to ourselves!

Room Tip: The higher the floor the better the view, but not if the weather is bad!

I went to Sapa for a 2-day trip and stayed at Luxury Hotel Sapa, located at 36 Fansipan road. I chose this hotel because of a recommendation from my friend, and it's a wise choice. This hotel has shuttle bus service to bring you from Lao Cai station to the hotel at a reasonable price. The deluxe room is large, well-organised with a nice view of the mountain from the window. The staff is very friendly, and the food from the restaurant is nice too. Generally, I have a very good experience with this hotel. I heard that the hotel also offers some tours for the tourists like Fansipan tour, some trekking tours, etc. I will bring some of my friends and go for the Fansipan tour next time

Room Tip: Deluxe room near the balcony is great.

Sapa was one of our favourite places in Vietnam! We stayed at the family run SaPa Luxury Hotel for 1 night as part of a custom made tour of Vietnam and Cambodia. It would have been easy to stay longer! The staff were very friendly and helpful. The staff insisted on lugging our bags up the stairs to our room. Our room was very nice and clean and had a fabulous view over the narrow, interesting street and the beautiful valley and mountains beyond. Outside of our room there were lounge chairs which we could relax in while enjoying a cup of coffee or glass of wine soaking up the view. We brought our own laptop and the Wi-fi was excellent. Breakfast was very good. The staff were kind enough to let us stay in the room a little later than check out time (we delayed our trek due to rain) and when we did check out, they kept our bags safe until we were ready to head for the evening train. This is a very convenient place to stay for access to the market, town and for walking in the beautiful surrounding area—we had a lovely 1/2 day trek through the valley along buffalo paths and through hill tribe villages with our incredible guide, Ha Ta. Don’t miss Sapa on your trip to Vietnam. We would stay in this hotel again!

Great, friendly and helpful staffs.
Decent rooms, clean with hot water and wi-fi. Mattresses a bit hard if u are a newbie in Vietnam (I now don't mind, but it might be a impact to people used to soft mattresses in western world).
Price include breakfast, which I founded a bit limited (I would prefer paying a couple of dollars more in the price room, but able to eat a full-filling breakfast, as I was still a bit hungry after the tiny choice was offered).
They also offer a very convenient pick up/drop off bus from lao cai to Sapa and viceversa.
