Fansipan View Hotel
Ranked #19 of 156 Sapa B&B and Inns
Reviewed August 19, 2013

Hotel is very centrally located up a long stepped path from central gardens. The hotel is perched on the hillside as are all the buildings in Sapa.
The rooms are a good size but very basic. The views from some rooms are spectacular. The views from everywhere in Sapa are spectacular.
The staff are very helpful but very few speak English (only Viet) but they try very hard.
We were in the hotel as part of a prebooked trekking package and the restaurant food was a set menu but it was good and plentiful.
Cons: no lift which is challenging after trekking or carrying bags
Toilets cannot accept toilet paper and it goes in basket which has smell/hygiene issues.
We enjoyed the staff who treated us very well. The hotel was adequate.
The black Hmong who hound you are extremely annoying and really reduce the experience of Sapa.
Advice re Black Hmong - completely ignore them or firmly and politely say "no thank you" or you will be followed and pestered.
Good luck

We have just left Sapa and the Fansipan View hotel and much has already been said in other reviews about arriving and the excellent service, the views and location so i wont repeat but why did the hotel Make our stay'? Well it was the hospitality of all the lovely family who own and run it. They not only opened their hotel but also their home to us - sharing a family meal was the highlight of our holiday and we are very grateful. The manager is both kind and fun and this welcome was shared with all her guests. If you dont give it a try you will be missing out! Also new hotel next door which is very modern and being built to a high spec will open in approx 1 month - called Panorama. With the service and quality of accommodation it will be hard to beat!

An interesting experience. Greeted by a mob of local Black Hmongs even before checking in to the hotel was our first taste of Sapa. Upon arriving at the hotel at 8.30am due to delay of train to Lao Cai; we only managed for some breakfast and change of clothes before our first half day walking tour to Catcat Waterfall. The breakfast was made to order from a few options. It took some time for the order to arrive but i just love the french bread and coffee. Dinner was also included in our package and the sets included 5 dishes but our favourite would be the spring rolls. We had room 402 which had a balcony and a excellent view of Fansipan Mountain and the town centre. Rooms were clean and everything we needed was provided. There is even split aircond which was useful during our visit as it could get quite warm in the summer afternoons. The location is just nice as it is just a 5 minute walk to the lake which is located behind the hotel, and the market same distance at the opposite direction. This hotel is a bit more pricier than the many other hotel around the town centre but the excellent view, central location without feeling crowded, great food and nice customer service was well worth it.

We arrived to an early morning chilly Sapa from the overnight train but were quickly made to feel very welcome with warming ginger tea and an effort to ensure our room was ready, even though it didn't have to be until later in the day.
The room was comfortable and the shower was adequate to wash away the days trekking exertions.
Finally, the breakfast was decent and the evening meal included in the price of our stay was excellent local food with several courses.
All in all, if visiting Sapa for a short trip, I'd very much recommend a night or two here.

Loved the Fansipan View Hotel and the incredible hosts, Thuin and Tam.
Coming in at 7am from the overnight train after walking around Hanoi all day with our 4 boys, we were tired, hungry and in desperate need of a shower! The girls knew just how we felt and looked after us, keeping the restaurant open for our breakfast as long as we needed, while we showered and changed and drank the coffee and water they brought in for us. Thuin was so nice she even invited us all into her home on our last night for a traditional sea food hot-pot with her family.
Fantastic! Hotel was beautifully looked after, clean, well maintained, great views from our window and balcony. Thanks Thuin and Tam, great service, lovely people, great memories!

Room Tip: Try and book a room at the front of the hotel with great views

Lovely location walking distance to the markets and sights. It is very close to many restaurants and bars. It is also very close to the beginning of the many wonderful walks in the countryside. Our room was clean and comfortable. We had a problem with our shower but the lovely staff were able to repair it and gave us a discount. The breakfast and dinner were lovely. I recommend this hotel.

Just back from our amazing trip to Sapa. What really made our trip is the hotel charm and it's wonderful staff beside great scenery of Sapa. The hotel is in such a good location what brings parts of best view of the town. The room is spacious with efficient A/c and good shower. Their staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. They recommended us tourist sites in their town, helped us with our bus from and to the train st, provided us an early check in which was really good for my mum. Breakfast was tasty with both Vietnamese and Western style. Especially, the coffee at their own restaurant ( Sapa kitchen ) is the best one that i ve tried ever. WE did enjoy our coffee time there much plus nice view to the park and main church. Couldn't recommend enough and this would be our only hotel whenever we come back sapa.

Room Tip: Room with mountain view
