Great location -- who would have imagined such a hotel in such a place? -- and rooms with a river view have a great look on some of the best Mekong River sunrises ever. Rooms are clean, fresh, filled with geckos (at least ours was) and the bed is among the best.
Lemon juice was terrific, wine only okay, Zombie at Happy Hour a blast.
Great pool, colonial charm in the lobby, rooms, restaurant and pretty much everywhere else.
Spa is not the most luxe, but the feet and hands massage was perfect and the price surprisingly low given the hotel it is in.
Food is good, staff friendly, effficient and professional.
I would return and do recommend it.
If wants to channel Maugham, Greene et al, this place will certainly further the journey.
If one wants simply to loll about, this works too.

Room Tip: River view is pretty much de rigeur.

Dear Darryl G,

Thank you for taking the time to share your impression about our hotel.

We are really glad that you enjoyed your stay with us so much. Our location is a one-of-a-kind location and we have, indeed, an amazing view over the Mekong Delta and its multiple rivers.
The geckos are part of the tropical wildlife and it’s impossible to keep them all out, but they are harmless and can be removed from the rooms quite easily by our maintenance team.
Apart from this little incursion in the wildlife, we always try our best to make our guests’ stay the most enjoyable we can, and this goes with a good bed and a good restaurant.

You seem to have enjoyed every aspect of the hotel and we are happy that you did!

The spa, the pool, the restaurant, the bar are all parts of the Victoria experience that you had with us.

We are looking forward to welcoming you back to your home in Vietnam. In the meantime, be assured that we will keep on improving our services.

With best regards and wishes,

The Management

We arrived from Cambodia late in the day and were taken by the Hotels location wright on the river.
The hotel is out of the colonial period but is well maintained.
Our room was on the street side and we could hear the street noise.
The room has all the amenities expected.
The resurant was full with bus trippers so we had to eat in the bar but the food was good.
Being on the river the insects at night made it unwise to venture out onto the bars nice balcony, which seemed ashame.

Room Tip: Get a River side room if you want a good nights sleep.

Dear Ozbraids,

Thank you for sharing your experience at our hotel!

We are glad that the room met your expectations.
The rooms on the street do have more noise than the ones on the river side but noise is a part of Vietnam; and between 7 PM and 5 AM, the traffic is really lower than in the rest of the day and so is the noise.

We have some bus travelers staying at our hotel, however we always offer our non-bus travelers to have diner aside from the groups.
The mosquitoes are part of the Mekong Delta life and, with a good repellent, the terrace is really enjoyable.

We look forward to welcoming you again.
Rest assured that we will keep on improving our hotel and that your impressions are a real help for us.

With best regards and wishes

We arrived from Phnom Penh by Blue Cruiser (I recommend this experience - try it!) in the evening and then left early in the morning; so this was a brief experience.

It was all OK but I have to say that we weren't blown away by the place.

Our room was comfortable and clean and looked out over the river - which was an interesting view to behold - but I think that even if we had stayed more time, we wouldn't have bonded to the place. The grounds do boast a swimming pool, but that is sandwiched between the river and the hotel and doesn't offer space to be enjoyed.

Staff friendly - food OK - interesting (and tasty) breakfast of local cuisine.

OK - but not a place i have in my list of revisits!

Stayed: November 2012

This hotel is located close to the river. The room are very nice, we had one with river view. The hotel proviedes a boat, that goes to town and back, which is very convenient if you want to go out for dinner. The breakfast buffet is very good with a gool variety of food. We can recommend this hotel.

an expensive alternative in vietnam and chau doc, but worth every penny and more: service was the best we tried for our month of travel: not too much or little, very professional and personal at the same time, very attentive and with a present awaiting our daughter upon arrival.
decor was beautiful in old colonial style and the view of the three rivers meeting was perfect. breakfast was delicious with lots of choices.
dinner was good but nothing extraordinary.
we stayed for two nights in the suite on 3rd floor.

Room Tip: You should definitely go for a view of the river, that's the most exotic part of chau doc.

We stayed at the Victoria Chau Doc Hotel one night before leaving for the fast boat to Phnom Penh. This grand, white-colored hotel provided a sense that it has existed through many decades, and seen much, with its architectural style and river-facing garden area. It provided a nice break from the more utililtarian, modern hotels, that one comes to expect these days.

A caution - though not a criticism of the hotel. This place is popular. There are tour groups coming through. Come morning time, even really early morning time, the dining room is filled and there long lines to get food. Elevators can be jammed. Empty tables are scarce. Belllhop service, for luggage, can be a problem (staff overextended at that time). People are waiting for boats, whatever, to take them to their next destination. So provide extra time to get through the breakfast process and check out. Expect crowds, noise, and be sure your luggage gets to the right place, with you. Enjoy your trip!!

Dear Sir, Dear Madam:

Thank you for your nice advice and for taking the time to share it here. We are pleased that you liked our hotel and that you enjoyed the break you took there between Vietnam and Cambodia.

As you say, our guests can use our speedboats to go directly to Phnom Penh from our own jetty, and in fact, most of our guests do so. Thus, as all the boats leave at approximately the same time, most of the guests wake up, take their breakfast, check out and call for help with their luggage at the same time. And this is even more true when we welcome big groups.

We are always trying to make this special moment go as smoothly as possible. And we are currently thinking of solutions to reduce the lines in the restaurant and at the reception desk.

We will go on improving our offer and services thanks to your help.

Rest assured that we will maintain the highest standards of quality at Victoria Chau Doc Hotel.
We look forward to welcoming you again and remain at your service

With best regards and wishes
