“Old World Charm”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 9, 2012

The hotel is a bit of the past coming to life. the rooms are lovely, clean and airy with a balcony - get a room on the river side and take in the sights of the mekong. Service like usual was fantastic and welcoming. Buffet breakfast was plentiful and varied. We had our farwell vietnam dinner in the hotel restaurant and we were impressed by the service and the quality of the food, a bit more expensive that outside, but worth it.

Room Tip: Get a river view room - lovely sights.

My husband and I had one night only at this hotel. Sadly it was only one night en route to our next destination, because we could very easily have stayed longer here. This hotel is just gorgeous in every way. The style, the decor, the staff, the food, the location... the quality and style is evident throughout. We just loved the architecture and design. It was more like a resort hotel that you would find in the islands, complete with lovely swimming pool. Our room was on the 3rd floor and overlooked the river and pool. It was spacious and restful. Fabulous big bed and lovely bathroom with many little extra touches. There was even a personalised letter awaiting us in our room, welcoming us a "distinguished guests" ! which gave us a good laugh but was a lovely touch. We opened up the french doors and stood on the balcony just watching the river life. I rose early in the morning to photograph the sunrise over the river and got some stunning shots. We had a 5 star meal in the restaurant on the evening we arrived and sumptuous buffet breakfast the following morning. On our arrival at 6pm the hotel immediately arranged our bus pick up and tickets for the following morning. The receptionist kindly translated the address of our next accommodation (an out of the way homestay in the Mekong Delta) into Vietnamese for me to give to the taxi driver there. We took a quick cyclo tour around the town, stopping at a market long enough to buy a piece of silk and have a very quick look at Chau Doc. We had an evening stroll along the riverfront just along from the hotel. This was our "treat" accommodation for our trip, and it was well worth the $132 we paid for the night. I cant recommend the Vic Chau Doc highly enough if you want a reasonably priced high end accommodation. Would certainly stay there again.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the river side. You can watch the fascinating life on the river outside for ages w...

Only stayed one night before heading by boat to phnom Penh early the following morning. The hotel has an old world charm but is actually quite modern and clean. We had a nice room overlooking the river, although the bathroom was surprisingly a bit dated with an odd corner bath and no separate shower. Our dinner was good, although not the best we had in Vietnam and the breakfast was also good but nothing special. Overall a pleasant experience for a short stay

Very well taken care this old hotel is located downtown, and has it own boat dock from where you can start you visit to the fish farms, and local way of life along the river. Food was excellent and so was service. My apartment was bright, clean, big, and insect free. If you are a light sleeper it can get a little bit noise when the water traffic begins early in the morning but nothing unbearable. I would stay here again!

After travelling through Vietnam for just over a week and about to venture into Cambodia, we wanted to spend a couple of nights in a nice Hotel and spend a full day relaxing and doing nothing. The Victoria Chau Doc Hotel did not disappoint.
We stayed in a deluxe room which was on the top floor on the riverside of the Hotel. The views were sensational and you can get lost watching all the action on the river.
The room was neat and tidy with a large corner bath and balcony. We received complimentary dinner in the Bassac Restaurant within the Hotel which was a three course set menu; the food was wonderful.
Breakfast was possibly the best variety we had throughout Vietnam.
We booked the Hotel's speedboat into Phnom Penh which was an enjoyable 4hr ride including border checks, and really the only way to do it. The staff on the boat were helpful and the border crossing was taken care of on our behalf. However, the cost was $100ea with a minimum of four people (so if you're the only one you're up for $400). Blue Cruiser is only $55 and will pick up at the Victoria jetty.

Room Tip: Ask for a riverside room on the top floor. You'll get a great view of the bassac river and the f...

The previous night we stayed at the Victoria Can Tho Resort and loved it so much we changed our hotel reservation in Chau Doc to the Victoria. This hotel chain in phenomenal. The rooms were clean and spacious. The pool and dining were wonderful. It is a great location to the market and little shops. Definitely recommend staying here!

We come from France & have decided to stay four nights at Victoria Chau Doc hotel after staying in Vung Tau (South Vietnam in front of Chinese sea). We have been impressed by the fantastic view on the Mekong river. (no road between the hotel & the river meaning no noise .., but don't forget to book rooms with Mekong river view because the hotel has also rooms on the other side on a main street of Chau Doc) We were in the room 332, fantastic .. The employees are very professional, nice people and the Mgr Mr Manh is always taking care of you .. You are "at home" with a great sensation of freedom. The restaurant is famous, the cook delicious, (necessary for french people ..) and the breakfast in front of the river, magical .. You must also know that it takes 6 hours by car from Saigon (HCMC) to Chau Doc.We took the Hotel Transportation, the car was new and the driver very safe .. A last recommendation, the Spa is perfect (..) & the prices very reasonable.. (philippe_niel@fr.ibm.com)

Room Tip: Ask for " Mekong river view ".We were at the third ans last floor.Room 332 with a large te...
