We stayed one night at the Hai Chau Hotel as we took the boat to Phnom Penh the next morning. The hotel is very well located for a stroll through the market and the town centre, and even the Victoria Hotel can easily be reached on foot (for a nice cocktail and a lovely sunset). The boat dock is just a short walk down the road (the hotel charges $ 25 for a ticket to Phnom Penh whereas the boat company states $ 24 on its webpage). The superior double room was spacious enough and clean. However, there was a very unpleasant smell in the room. The other downside of this larger room is that it gets very bright in the morning as there are no night curtains (however, in order to catch the boat you have to get up early anyway). Staff is friendly and helpful; we received a warm welcome with a nice welcome drink.

We got to Chau Doc to stay for 1 night before taking the boat to Phnom Penh.

We have chosen the Hai Chau hotel as it is close to the docks and good value for the price of a room.

Pros:
- Close to the docks for the morning boats
- Friendly staff
- Nice clean rooms

Cons:
- Wifi was not working (had to check the reservation and pick up for Phnom Penh)
- Bathroom needs an overhaul, the bathtub/shower was leaking and the edges were covered in mould.

The best was that they mixed up something with another reservation and told me on arrival that the room was already payed. We fixed this the next morning and payed the room. Everything else was just fine for the night we stayed.

We had a night in Chau Doc on a G Adventure tour. There isn't a lot going on in this town, we struggled to find a bar or restaurant and ate in the hotel, which was ok, but nothing special. Breakfast was ok, albeit basic.

The room was a very odd shape, but the bed was comfortable enough and there was a good shower too.

We went on river tour which I'd recommend, great to see how people live their lives on the water.

We stayed in the Hai Chau Hotel for just the one night as part of our G Adventures trip through South East Asia.
Like Chau Doc itself, this hotel has few frills but what does set it apart is the magnificent service. it is so friendly and the staff will help you in any way they can.
It is very well located, right near the main market and around the corner from the central square.
The rooms are tiny, tiny, tiny but clean with a/c so no problem there!
Breakfast is very basic and a little pricey by local standards.
Make sure you do the Motorcycle Tour of Sam Mountain at sunset which the hotel will help organise for you, it is magnificent up there and you really get a taste of local life on the 45 min drive to and fro! To be honest, there is not a huge amount else going on in Chau Doc. its a nice place to stop for a day, but maybe not much longer!
In short though, this is a decent hotel for a short stay, if you're in Chau Doc I would have no hesitation about staying here.

We arrived, with our 2 young kids from the Hang Chau boat from Phnom Penh, and thankfully they had an available room.
The young chap at reception was really helpful, and asked where we going the next day (to Ha Tien and then on to Phi Quoc). He mentioned that he had another family stating who were making the same journey, he introduced us and as a result we arranged to share a minivan.
Breakfast after a comfortable night's sleep was good and when we left the kids were given a bag of sweets - great service, I thoroughly recommend Hai Chau.
One word of warning in Chau Doc is that it closes early, you need to have dinner by 8ish, or it's Pringles for dinner

We stayed here for a night before taking the early morning speedboat to Cambodia. The hotel staff were extremely efficient at helping us organise our boat tickets and very accomodating with our three children, rearranging beds to suit us. They also presented us with a lovely breakfast all wrapped up to take with us in the early morning. Heartly recommend this hotel.

We stayed here for one night as part of our tour of South Vietnam with Water Buffalo Tours. It was the final night of our 3 day tour before we caught the boat to Phnom Penh, Cambodia the next day.
It is a well situated hotel on a corner, within walking distance to the boat dock.
Rooms are comfortable with air con and breakfast is included in the price which you request from the choices given. Western style breakfasts are available. The dining room and the front desk are all situated on the ground floor which has as its outlook through the glass windows and doors the busy street of this small city.
There is a very good local restaurant on your left as you walk towards the boat departures.
Good selection of local food available.
English is not well understood here but staff are friendly and willing to assist.
A good hotel for a one night stay which most people use this for prior to moving on either to see further sites of the Mekong Delta or heading for Cambodia.
