“Very nice Hotel best hotel closest to Chau Doc”
Reviewed November 18, 2011

I read the reviews on this hotel that are on tripadvisor, This is how I see it,
The Hotel is new and a very nice 4.5 star. Our room was a VIP room and it was fantastic! Meals very good! Staff are friendly, Being a new hotel thier English was a bit poor, We got by.
It is a 10 minute walk in to town, The new 5 star Hotel down the road would be 30 minute walk or more.
The walk from the Hotel to the centre of the small village of Chau Doc is interesting. Locals cooking on the streets, markets and shops, Location of this Hotel is just fine, if you are after a better hotel.

Room Tip: Book a VIP room, There is a childrens carnval on one side of the hotel finishes about 10pm, not real...

This hotel is miles from anywhere, and we were the only people in a hotel with probably 100 or so rooms so it was a really spooky experience. The dining room which would have capacity for a couple of hundred had the 2 of us and 4 kitchen staff. funny really.
Whilst the staff try their best to accomodate and are quite friendly, they cannot make up for the angle grinder noise going off at 2am and going right through every minute until 8 or 9am, or the dogs barking in the early hours.
The rooms are decorated 1960s chinese style, the sheets did not fit the bed so we slept on top of the bed. This place has no pool, but the wifi is good.
Very dissapointing that the staff couldnt even recommend anything to do in this town....

Room Tip: Do yourself a favour, if at all possible you dont have to go to Chau Doc, go anywhere else. we absol...

Ha Long is miles away from Chau Doc and the river near Sam Mountain. It is set in a littered field, has few occupants and neither the moutain, the village or the hotel have any charms. Room was 'okay' however the security was a major anxiety. Both of our rooms had broken off interior locks but, worse still, housekeeping left their large rings of room keys on the hallway floor for hours. I cannot recommend this hotel.

We stayed here for 3 nights- the hotel is not actually in chau doc but in nui Sam district- at the base of Sam mountain (makes an interesting morning to climb by the way!)- there is a small taxi ride into town so we were glad to stay here regardless of location.

The hotel was very clean and spacious- the room was large but not much of a view! The bathroom was the best bit for us since we had experienced some dodgy ones along our travels- finally a power shower and a clean damage free shower tray (though it took several scaldings to get the temp right- hot is cold cold is hot!).

We ate here several evenings& breakfast was included- a bit more expensive than other towns we visited but very tasty and worth it- they also have chilled tiger beer much to the delight of my partner!

It was very quiet when we visited & staff were happy to amuse our two year old whilst we ate.

The only let down was on leaving- we wanted a private car to ha tien since after experiencing the bus with a baby we wanted to relax! Staff insisted it would be 1400000d approx- £50; they refused to negotiate so we went with it. The car was like a comedy taxi- so tiny and the guy kept the meter on- when we arrived in ha tien the meter was only 700000d but it was too late for us. This is unusual since our experience at other hotels had wanted to save us money by going by private car not taxi- I just think it was very cheeky & I would advise other travellers to just get there own taxi or go into town to arrange transfers.

VIP room. Huge and could not take advantage of the triple bath!! Uninteresting hotel but could not fault bedroom/bathroom. Ok restaurant. No idea regards location as only there from 20.00 hours to 0730 next day.

Other group members had local hotel arranged by Delta Adventure which we heard was disgusting. Make sure you arrange your own room in Chau Doc!!

Let me make this clear: THIS HOTEL IS AWESOME. I am very surprise how unpopular this hotel is. The best 3-Star hotel you'll find in Chau Doc, also it is very CHEAP.

THE PROS:
The Hotel is fairly new, so therefore there service is superb. The rooms are very nice, about a 30" flatscreen in every room, air conditioning, wifi internet (but you have to ask for them to turn it on), decent amount of channels (about 30), the restaurant downstair has a wide variety of food, I stayed there for 3 days and each day I bought different food from the restaurant from breakfast-lunch-dinner-snack and everything I ate there was delicious, probably the best food in the city. The tables and chairs were well organize, clean plates. They have an elevator so we don't have to carry our luggage up all the stairs (but they have bus-boys that carry your bags, for free). Also every room come with a minibar. They are located near the temples. ALSO IT IS VERY CHEAP, 25$ for standard rooms, about 65$ for VIP rooms.

The CONS:
There is not much to do in the hotel besides watch tv or surf the internet (however the manager there told me that in 5 years or so they're planning to add a swimming pool and upgrade it to a 4-star hotel, I dont know how much of that is true), also there is suppose to be an "International Super Centre" being built across the street from it, i'm guessing that is a mall of some sort. ALSO THIS HOTEL IS NOT NEAR THE MAJOR ROAD, TOOK ME ABOUT 1 HOUR TO FIND THIS HOTEL, don't be cheap like me and just pay 5 dollars for the cabbie to take u there ;)

PS: the pasta doesn't come with cheese!

  • Liked — Cheap prices for food and stay
  • Disliked — The emptiness on the outside of the hotel
