This is the heart of Chau Doc and it is a fascinating insight into the way people live here. You can buy anything from toiletries to live food, from hardware to flowers and so on. You name it; they sell it - and there is no hard sell as in more obvious tourist destinations (eg Ho Chi Minh City). Bargain hard though. The downside is that the preserved and salted fish section produces a pungent smell that reaches far beyond the fish section, so you might not choose to eat at the food stalls closest to the fish!
