My time at Wave House started out a bit anxious--I initially felt a bit out of place as an American traveling alone at, what I learned upon arrival, a predominantly Russian surf camp.
My concerns were quickly alleviated and I quickly fell in love with the people (who were actually from all around the world) and instruction at the Wave House.
My last minute selection of this surf camp in Canggu, which driven solely by trip advisor reviews and location, was a phenomenal experience. The camp environment & peaceful setting, the surf instructors (especially Aleksey) and guests made for a very fun, very productive week where I truly improved my surfing abilities. I started out as a beginner who surfed white water (like what you see for the classic 1-hour lessons on the beach) and left as an intermediate surfer who feels comfortable surfing 5-foot waves.
I leave with several new friends from all around the world and will most certainly meet up with them for future trips as well as with my instructor, and new friend, Aleksey for surfing again in Bali.
This camp is for those who are interested in meeting friendly people who have different world perspectives yet are similarly interested in improving how they surf. Has been the best decision of my trip to Bali thus far.
Thank you, Wave House, for helping me hit my goal of surfing 5-ft Green Waves as well as for the staff and instructors' incredible hospitality--I hope to see you all the next time I visit Bali at Wave House!
