“This is Camping for an Urban Girl”

I like fishing, but camping - not so much. These cabins are older but have all the necessary modern conveniences. There was a large grill on the deck with a small table and chairs. The cabins are clean and well furnished.and more importantly, adjacent to the Kenai River. You can walk out your front door go 50 feet + or - and you are on the banks of the river. There are docks to fish from and there are fish to catch! I am looking forward to a return trip.

We live in Alaska every summer (MatSu valley and Fairbanks) but this year we visited Krog's Kamp for the first time and had an amazing time. We stayed there as part of an Air Force reunion group of about 20 guests. Bob and Mel, and son, Eric Krogseng, made sure every guest's wishes were met and exceeded. The cabins were fantastic get-away accomodations, with well-equipped kitchens. For the fishing enthusiasts, the Krogsengs made all the arrangements, including homemade lunches for the day!
For the non-sports vacationer who wants to get to know long-time Alaskans and hear their experiences, there is no better place than sitting and talking with Mel over a great cup of coffee, looking out at the swift-moving river view!
Krog's Kamp's tiny gift shop has unique gifts including native-made walrus ivory jewelry made by the Krogsengs' friends. The drive down from Anchorage is definitely worth it, especially when you know that Krog's Kamp is waiting for you in Soldotna.
I'd definitely recommend it to anyone planning a trip to Alaska or to fellow Alaskans (either "sourdough" or "cheechako" like me) who want to see a different part of our great state!

My first trip to Krog's Kamp was back in 2002. It was the first trip I made with my young son after my divorce, and I was looking for a relaxing, bonding experience to heal my wounds and bring some closure to a dreadful experience. What I found was Mel and Bob Krogseng, their beautiful property right on the banks of the Kenai river, our guide Shella, their wonderful hospitality, and memories that will last forever. I have gone back several times, with my son and with friends, and every experience has been fantastic. You get to know Mel and Bob quite well, almost to where you feel like you are part of their family. And they set it all up for you; the flyouts on High Adventure Charters, halibut fishing on Cook Inlet, guided trips up and down the Kenai River...it just doesn't get any better than this. If you're looking for a little slice of heaven, give them a call. You won't regret it!

Room Tip: If you have a large enough group, ask for Cabin "A."

I've been going to Krog's Kamp for over 15 years.I fish once a year and its always at Krog's.They make you an expert fisherman once you walk through their warm, front door. You immediately feel part of Mel and Bob's family and treated as such.I dreamed of taking my wife, daughter and son to Krog's one day and it finally happened. My family had never fished before but now they are hooked! We caught several different species of fish while enjoying the beauty of Alaska.Mel,Bob and Eric gave us a trip that my family will never forget. We can't get back soon enough !!

Room Tip: I reccommend the front rooms with the river view.

Great accommodations right on the Kenai River. Fishing gear and guides at the camp. Beautiful site on the river. Clean, modern cabins, with well equipped kitchens. All good memories and we hope to be able to come back soon.

I have dreamed of going to Alaska since I was 14 and had the amazing opportunity to celebrate my 53 birthday at Krog's Kamp on the Kenai River in Soldotna. Mel and Bob the owners of 35 years are incredible hosts as is their son Eric who insures your every comfort.
I came as a 'client/guest' and left as a friend. It was clear by the returning 'friends' of many years that it is the ONLY choice to find your Alaskan adventure. The cabin was modern and comfortable and the meals were first rate.
Oh yeah...the fishing? FANTASTIC! from float fishing on the upper Kenai, Halibut fishing on the Inlet, flaot plane trips to glacial lakes and working the lower Kenai with their skilled (and fun) guides it was far beyond my best expectations!
It's an easy drive and beautiful (all highway) from Anchorage....you must give Mel and Bob your first and best shot to enjoy Alaska and it's amazing wild wonders!

Everything at this resort was top drawer. The Owners were very friendly and gladly handled every request and even provided much more than what was expected from this trip. They have a stable of excellant professional fishing guides that covers every kind of fishing available in Alaska. We had meals provided in our plan. The meals were not only fun, but the food was outstanding. It was like going to grandma's house for dinner. The accomodations were sparkling clean and they offered whatever sporting equipment you needed for the day. I recommend Krog's Kamp and plan to go back next year to catch more of the Kenai River fish.
