On our way through Soldotna, we stopped at this diner for a bite to eat. Menu was unique with many interesting facts about Alaska interspersed throughout the menu choices. However the food was nothing special. Food greasy and overcooked. Place also needs a bit of a makeover - seems tired and careworn. Will say the waitress was attentive however. Do not recommend going here overall.

I visited Sal"s for breakfast on 8-26. Five of us were fishing in the Kenai river that week and our host slash cook needed a break. The platters my fishing partners ordered were piled high with a variety of well perepared breakfast goodies. I personally had the steak and egg plate and boy was it good. We all left way too full and satisfied with our meals. Do not forget to grab one of Sal's cinnamon rolls as you leave, to munch on later.

Expensive - Not Good - No Atmosphere. I had fried halibut fish and chips that was pretty good but very expensive (like $25) everyone else did not have good food.

This is a locally owned restaurant in a strip mall on Sterling Highway in Soldotna, Alaska. It has an old fashioned feel and the typical menu one would expect. Our family of four ate breakfast here after three days of fishing and were very happy to have someone else cook our meal. The portions were large, cooked as we ordered and served with a smile. We ate here about 8 years ago and were happy to find them still in business. A good place to go for a basic meal.

we went hoping to find a good spot to eat. We were pleasantly surprised by the prices! And there is a salad bar which is hard to come by in Alaska. But my son found a SPIDER grilled on to his ham. The waitress told the owner and he comp'd us our meal, but didn't walk out to talk with us.
We went back hoping to get better results and again bad customer service and not as clean as it should be
