Great place just get totally de-stressed and return home relaxed! Awesome atmosphere, great food, variety of tent spots, loved the outhouses, staff was very cordial & accommodating! Back to nature! Loved it! Thank you Mary Jane, Tony & Kyle!!

Room Tip: Depends on activity level. Tents placed at different levels of the property. We had the highest on...

We went for our anniversary several years ago. Great accomodations. Yes, it's roughing it, but you've never had roughing it so good. The tents are secure and clean; we were off the ground in comfortable beds. Even during a storm we were safe and snug. The staff was wonderful and you've never had such a wonderful breakfast. This is a great way to explore Alaska.

Room Tip: I doubt there's a bad room here. Your canvas walled tent is nestled in under the trees. I wanted...

I have been to this place about 4 times now with different friends and family. Each trip has left us with lasting, happy memories. There is so much to do-or blissfully do nothing in this peaceful setting. As if the natural beauty weren't enough, Tony & Mary Jane are consistently gracious, fun-loving and attentive. The tents are cozy and roomy, the food is home-cooked and delicious. The meals are served family style so you can have lively conversations with people from many parts of the world. We're already planning for next summer.

Need to really relax? Need to clear your mind? Go to this place. The hosts are friendly and unpretentious. The lodge--where you eat--offers views of the coastal setting and is clean and quaint. The food is plentiful and yummy. The tents are private with comfortable beds. The choices for activities range from hanging out in the gazebo to bike riding and kayaking. You are likely to meet travelers from other states as well as Alaskans. You will wish you could stay longer!

I traveled to Across the Bay on the recommendation of a neighbor who goes every year with a large group of friends.

Although I'm adventurous at heart, I wasn't sure about the "tenting" aspect but I loved it. The wall tents were like little cabins, cozy and inviting, and ours was tucked beside a gurgling stream that lulled us all to sleep after a day of kayaking and gathering shells and driftwood on the beach. My 6 and 8 year old kids slept longer than usual!

The food was quite good and the hosts charming and accommodating to our needs. My only disappointment was that we couldn't extend an extra day since a large tour group was arriving the day we were scheduled to leave.

Across The Bay Tent and Breakfast was the perfect spot for our sister reunion this year. It offered adventure and outdoor fun in the midst of gorgeous landscape scenery. The owners and "hosts extraordinaire," Mary Jane and Tony, are down to earth, warmhearted and friendly folks. Their yummy meals and gracious hospitality added cozy comfort to our camping experience. We kayaked (amazingly peaceful and beautiful!), hiked, and spent an afternoon in Seldovia, sightseeing and getting acquainted with some of the local personalities.
The accommodations are what I would call "stepped-up" camping. The white-walled tents are set upon carpeted wood flooring. The sleeping bags (fitted with inner linings that are removed for washing) are resting on top of cushioned platforms. The outhouses are uniquely decorated and showers and towels are provided for all.
Besides the excellent rates and the peaceful setting, we loved the fun adventures, delicious meals and the T.L.C. given to us by our dear hosts. When our stay was over, we knew we had gained precious memories and new friends. Yes, we would gladly repeat this experience!! Thank you, Mary Jane and Tony for adding so much fun to our sister reunion!

I would emphatically not recommend this place to stay. I have stayed many times in Homer and was looking to show out of state guests a more adventurous outing and chose this lodge from their own website based on photos and reviews. We two couples and our 5 year old son could not have been more disappointed in the accommodations. I knew we were in wall tents and having grown up and camped in numerous canvas wall tents in Alaska I thought I knew what to expect, or so I thought. There was no heat available in the tents, and it being the coldest June on record so far you would have thought the owners would bring out heaters or more blankets. The cots are handbuilt 2"X4" and plywood construction bed frames, which wasn't a problem it was the mildewy, lounge chair cushions that we were supposed to sleep on that were the problem. Hard and as uncomfortable as you would expect. Outdoor lounge cushions?!! Really? And no sauna as advertised, (at the time) apparently it was renovated for family accomodations without it being taken off the website. It was a beautiful location and the food was not bad, and the main room where you eat is nice, but if you are expecting the type of wall tent lodging that you see highlighted in Sunset magazine you will be sorely (as my hips and back can attest to) disappointed.
