Our kayak trip to La Conte Glacier was cancelled after I called the guide the night before to confirm our trip. He then told us he was not able to go due to illness. We were really disappointed as it was too late to arrange another tour. We totally understand that people get sick, but this was the only day we had in Petersburg and we will likely never get back there. A company who advertises on the web should have a backup plan (ie: another guide).

We did a guided, four-hour paddle with Scott owner of Tongass Kayaks. We crossed the Wrangell Narrows to the Petersburg Creek Wilderness area. The paddle was easy, traveling with the incoming tide up to Petersburg creek. We saw some bears and had a bit of rain. We road the tide when it changed and paddled back to Petersburg. Scott was a great guide/owner, kayaks were well maintained; gear we used was good. Over all a very good paddle.

If you are interested in whale watching, getting up close and personal with a glacier and maybe getting in a day or more of kayaking, this is the organization to go with. We had a great experience with Scott as our guide. This isn't someone who just 'boats' you around, but a knowledgeable, experienced guide, well versed in his area of expertise. As for kayaking (my first time) I would rate this experience and getting close to the icebergs as ultra cool. Right up there with hiking in Peru and seeing the sunrise over Ayers Rock in Australia.

Just had a wonderful day at LeConte Glacier with Scott from Tongass Kayak Adventures. It was cold and rainy but no one cared as the scenery was amazing and Scott kept the day fun and interesting. He is a very knowledgeable guide and a lovely man who does everything he can to make the day better for everyone. The hundreds of icebergs we saw en route to the glacier were ridiculously beautiful, in fact I took about 325 photos! The kayaking was a pretty relaxing couple of hours and the rest of the time we spent exploring the water for seals, seal lions, birds and flowers. If you're in Petersburg this is a definite must do.

The Leconte Glacier Bay was gorgeous, and floating through the fjord by kayak was amazing. We were in a two-person kayak to enable us to go farther, which was perfect because we were also on our honeymoon. Our guide was very knowledgeable and pleasant to be around.
