We live close to the lake and visit it quite often. There is a beach area that is great for the kids in the summer. The park also has paths for walking/running and there is a playground for kids. We kayak the lake in the summer and ride the snow machines on the lake in the winter. Great park all year round!

Came here back in June and it was beautiful, now I'm back in October and it's about the same. The scenery and the water look amazing. It's a nice quiet place to come and hang out to enjoy nature. The drive out here was nice and scenic as well.

This is by far the best location to see the Aurora Borealis! Drive round the lake to the jetty, park your car, and walk to the lake shore. Get there by 10pm and be ready for a long night... but it's well worth it!

The first night, the lights showed up around 1.30am; although we were told that there was an early display at around 10.30pm. The second night, we were there at 10.30pm and the lights came on around 12am... spectacular!

We also went to the lake late afternoon, just to scout the location for the Aurora Borealis, and found it to be a lovely place for a picnic or to spend some down time.

I lived right down the road for three years and would always bring my dogs here to walk. There are many different trails to choose from out in the flood plain or along the damn. Beware these are multiuser trails so will likely see horses, 4-wheelers, bicyclists, runners, etc. Its also a great place to pick low bush cranberries in the fall.

There is a bike path that goes all the way from the entrance to the backwoods. It goes from paved to dirt road, to double track. This is a good place to sight wildlife, just be careful.

The rate for RV was much more than advertised at Visitor Center. Told that they never update. One person very nice to compensate for the crazy rude guy at the gate. The site was well maintained, but poor road. Swimming area not usable due to Swimmers Itch. Also, one of the worst places for mosquitoes we encountered...and we've been traveling around Canada and AK for 2 months.
