Recommended length of visit: 1-2 hours
Owner description: Get all your rowdy friends together and join in the Alaskan axe-tion in this amazing competition of skill and strength. The Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show reflects upon southeast Alaska’s rich logging history and comes to life with thrilling displays of strength and agility. These world champion athletes wearing spiked boots & hard hats compete in 12 athletic events that utilize seven-pound axes, six-foot razor sharp saws, tree climbing gaffs, and souped up chainsaws. Your cheers will turn to roars of excitement as axes fly through the air, men free fall from tall trees, and then run atop spinning logs floating in the water. The show is held in a covered, heated, and cushioned grandstand that includes a rustic lodge gift shop and full concession. This will be one hour of action, excitement, and laughs that is unique to all of Alaska.

Was there in July, enjoyed very much.
Involving the audience and splitting into Canada vs. U.S. made it feel that we participated!
Would definately recommend as a must
For Ketchikan.

I love the Lumberjack show! I've only gotten to go twice but both times were fantastic! The "competition" is obviously staged, but the lumberjacks are actually doing some pretty incredible things. My favorite part is always when they race up the giant poles! I've seen two different hosts for the show, and both were very likable and were very adept at getting the crowd involved. "YO-HOOOOO!"

Not sure why they feel the need to make lumberjacks look stupid, but that is exactly half the show here. There is some decent talent here and I thought the skits should focus on getting the sport more respect than presenting these guys as morons (which they are not, just part of their act). Show remove the hokey and talk more more about the history and traditions.

This is a good fun activity to enjoy if you have the time or are into those kinds of sports, they really get the crowd going and are very entertaining. If you are a local you can ask for the Alaska rate all you need is your AK id, great to be tourist in your own town.

Our visit to Ketchikan left us quite underwhelmed. The show was entertaining and kids would love it. It was a break from the shops, but one more area of commercialization.
