Just returned from a Princess cruise through Alaska, and did this tour in Ketchikan. It was kind of a dull, chilly, cool day, but Rob and his crew did a GREAT job showing us around the river with free hot chocolate and cookies. The views were spectacular, and got to see old floating villages, bald eagles both in trees and in flight, and their nests. One area of rocks had several seals taking a nap. Rob did a great job explaining what we were seeing, with a touch of humor thrown in to make it interesting. There was even someone's house decorated with painted bowling balls. You could go on the top deck for better views and pictures, and even sit in the pilothouse where he would take a picture of you sitting in the captains seat using your own camera. I would recommend this tour to anyone, and if we ever go back to Alaska we would book this again in a heartbeat.
Enjoyed the excursion with Capt Rob and his crew. Capt Rob's commentary kept things interesting while watching for bald eagles, seal lions, and other potential wildlife. Boat was comfortable and we were served hot chocolate during the chilly trip. Never been that close to wildlife and it was interesting to see them in their natural habitat. Followed up with an e-mail question to him after we got home because we couldn't remember the birds (Pigeon Guillimots) and received a quick response and picture.
