“Aptly Named Misty Fjords”
Reviewed June 19, 2013

I recently enjoyed a day trip excursion through my Golden Princess cruise on Allen Marine's Misty Fjords tour. I wanted to see places that the big ship could not go, in a smaller group, and I was not disappointed. Though the boat could have held at least twice as many people, we had a fairly small number of passengers, about 50. The Naturalist on board was excellent. The design of the Allen Marine boats allows great visibility both inside and out. Given the 'misty' nature of the area, it was satisfying to be able to see well while covered, on the main deck and up top, and it was easy to pop out for better photos of the incredible scenery. The mistiness made it all the more mysterious and beautiful. The main deck seating was very comfortable. The locally made pastries, samples of jams, smoked salmon, chowder and chili added to the experience during running time. The hot coffee was important, and my friend enjoyed her hot chocolate. Great attention to detail, they even had a stamp for the Misty Fjord National Monument for my National Parks Passport.

“Beautiful Scenery”
Reviewed June 11, 2013 via mobile

We booked this through DCL as one of our excursions and were not disappointed. The staff of Allen Marine was super friendly and accommodating. It's a long, relaxing ride to the waterfalls and well worth it. The naturalist on board was quick to point out many sites. We encountered numerous eagles and even some orcas.
Throughout the trip we were provided snacks including clam chowder and smoked salmon. They even had a designated kids corner where they had one if their crew lead the kids through fun games.
Excellent overall experience!

“Spiritual Experience”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

This was the highlight of my Alaskan cruise. I booked this trip through Ketchikan Independent Tours. Justin was able to get us a private booking with Allen Marine. There were 12 of us on the boat. It was a great boat for this trip. Lots of room and comfortable and warm. We were lucky to have a naturalist onboard with us. Sonja was so interesting to listen too. She was a wealth of information and did a great job explaining the surroundings to us. You could tell that she loves her job. The captain, Roger, made sure that we got right up close to everything and Peter, the first mate, made excellent hot chocolate, coffee and even shared a poem that he wrote about the fjords.
I am so happy that we took the boat trip. You can't even imagine the beauty of this place. It was such an awesome experience. Pictures do not do this place justice. I felt such a peaceful feeling being here. At one point we were stopped and looking up a sheer black cliff, it was then that I realized just how small we really are. It is so beautiful here.

“Breathtaking Scenary”
Reviewed July 20, 2012

This was the final excursion on our two week land and cruise vacation. Beautiful, beautiful Scenary. The crew on the boat was quite friendly. The only downside to this trip was the three hour roundtrip boat ride for the one hour of gorgeous views.

“Excellent way to see Misty Fjords”
Reviewed June 23, 2012

We booked the Misty Fjords & Wilderness Explorer excursion through Princess Cruises which was by Allen Marine Tours. The boat has a heated enclosed area but you are free to go to the observation deck at any time.

The staff was very friendly and informative.\ We had a naturalist on board who told us the local history of the Fjords and about the wildlife.

There were hot drinks included and a small pastry served. Later we had a choice of Seafood Chowder or Vegetarian Chili and as a final snack we were offered crackers with salmon.

The waterfalls were spectacular and we saw lots of eagles and harbour seals. It gets cold up on the top deck, so dress warmly and bring gloves and a rain jacket.
