Owner description: Southeast Exposure Ketchikan - Kayaking, Zipline & Zodiac Boat Tours. Welcome to Southeast Exposure. We started taking Kayaking Tours in 1986 from our home in downtown Ketchikan. Kayaks soon took over the yard. In 2005 we moved our operation north to beautiful Clover Pass, three miles from the end of the road. The protected waters here are dotted with evergreen islands. To realize our dream of having a zipline course and move the kayak tours away from the floatplanes, large boats, wind and the noise of the waters of downtown, we purchased an estate and started to renovate and add. We built a zipline course with 8 lines in the big cedars and installed transition elements as well as a zipline that zooms down to an ocean platform. We also installed an optional climbing wall with stairs to climb to the top platform. We support our Tatoosh Islands and Misty Fiords kayak tours with three vessels: Two 24’ Rigid Hulled inflatables (RIBs) and a 24’ landing craft. Our Zodiac Boatman Tour features three custom built 14’ rigid hulled boats. The kayak fleet would never fit anywhere in our two previous locations. What will you see out here in Clover Pass? Islands ringed by protected waters Seals, sea lions, eagles, intertidal life, jumping salmon, deer and possibly orcas on the hunt and transiting humpback whales.

“Tatoosh Islands Kayaking”
Reviewed August 11, 2013

Took this tour booked through out cruise line. We had an excellent day. We were fortunate to have beautiful weather but would have been great anyway. Our guides were John and Greyson who were both very helpful and knowledgeable. The provided brief instruction, provided dry bag for cameras and got us out on the water. The water was very clear and calm and made for great kayaking. Went along at a comfortable pace. Were able to view multiple bald eagles, sea star and a seal not to mention the beautiful scenery.

“Beautiful once you get there”
Reviewed August 9, 2013

We took the Tatoosh Island Kayaking tour booked through our cruise line. The guides were excellent and the final destination was beautiful, but there just wasn't enough time kayaking. After a 30 min bus ride, a Zodiac ride, fitting for gear, and basic instruction, it left enough time for us to kayak around one small island. Pretty lame.Part of the problem was that half of our group did not speak English and one pair of kayakers consisted of a small girl and her father, also non-English speakers. As a result, our group kept having to stop to allow them to catch up. We saw a couple of eagles and some people saw a seal on shore but that was about it for wildlife. I think this would be a fine tour if you had more time.

“Awesome kayaking in Ketchikan. And the ziplines were amazing as well.”
Reviewed August 6, 2013

Word of mouth said the Tatoosh Kayaking tour was amazing. First they take you on a Zodiak out to a remote island where you meet your guide. Any equipment, rainwear, spray skirt, dry bag for your camera they have for your use as part of your package. It was a sunny and no rain day, but the spray skirts kept us dry from the ocean. Sea otters and eagles, star fish, and we snacked on seaweed. The tour felt very private and our guide was helpful and had a great sense of humor. The views were breathless and it was the best kayaking tour I have ever been on. Later in the day I was fortunate enough to do the Zipline Adventure park.....a series of zip elements and challanges. Who knew I would look forward to jumping out of a tree with such abandon. The guides had a unique way of getting us in touch with our inner monkey. Never laughed so much in one day! Thank you Southeast Exposure!

“Excellent Fun with Great Guides”
Reviewed August 5, 2013

We signed up for the Eagle Island Sea Kayaking Excursion from our Princess Cruise. What an excellent choice. The guide staff were friendly, helpful, and added a great deal to the experience. It was great fun to get so close to an eagle's nest and watch both nest and parents from our double kayak. I'm only sorry that we didn't have more time to spend.

“Wish we saw more wildlife”
Reviewed July 26, 2013

It was our choice of cruise shore excursion from Ketchikan. I admit it was a good experience, our guides were knowledgable but we didn't see much wildlife. I know that it really depends on the particular day to what wildlife you will see but it wasn't worth the money. We went on the eagle islands sea kayaking and saw two eagles, some star fish and three seals. Most of the wildlife we saw was from far off.
