Description: The Narrows Restaurant has panoramic views of the Tongass Narrows waterway. Seasonally, humpback and killer whales pods, bald eagles, kingfishers, great blue heron, mink, harbor seal, and merganzer ducks abound. Cruise ships, float planes, ferries and fishing boats keep things interesting. Our food is fresh, homemade and among the best in town. We specialize in fresh local seafood; especially halibut, king salmon, and world class oysters from Coffman Cove, as well as Angus prime rib beef for dinner. The halibut and chips and the king crab are the largest in town. Our specialties for breakfast include Swedish pancakes with lingonberry butter, Dutch babies, and reindeer sausage. Our soup is always homemade and the seafood chowder is outstanding. We will accommodate any changes necessary for dietary considerations, including Vegan. This winter we are keeping the cost down to $16 with our "Easy on the Wallet" Comfort Food menu which includes Cajun Meatloaf, Jambalaya, Norwegian fish cakes with Shrimp sauce, grilled Ham Steak and homemade Mac n Cheese, among others. We have a Jazz night on Friday nights from 6-8 pm which showcases local talent, at least durng the winter. Please join us.

“Great food and location”
Reviewed July 16, 2013

This home town restaurant located very close to my B&B, has a terrific view, a variety of food and reasonable prices. The staff are friendly and helpful. Tip: avoid the bar if you are a nonsmoker. The dining room is smoke free.

“Awful, overpriced slop.”
Reviewed June 28, 2013

The only upside to our meal was the waitress. She was attentive without being in your face. She refilled my childrens drinks without being asked and brought us whatever we needed without waiting. Granted, we were the only patrons in the entire place. Now for the list of negative aspects about their food.

I ordered the crab stuffed Halibut. It was absolutely hammered. Overcooked and tasteless. I guarantee that it had already been cooked and was just reheated. Big mistake, you never precook fish!! Secondly, the food was barely at serving temp. It was warm, if anything, and like I mentioned before, we were the only ones in there! It should have been piping hot. The "steamed vegetables" were soggy and tasteless, the mashed potatoes were swimming in butter. There is absolutely no excuse for such awful terrible food, ESPECIALLY when they charge what they do! There was myself, my husband and our two children that ordered off the kids menu. We paid 100 dollars for food that appeared and tasted like it was cooked by my 13 year old.
If their staff in the kitchen had any training or natural cooking ability, I would be absolutely shocked.

To the Narrows Staff: If this review offends you, you should probably consider revamping your entire restaurant starting with the kitchen staff.

“Below Average”
Reviewed June 26, 2013

Frilly restaurant (fake white, rose wreaths on the table) with wonderful water views. Limited parking. Nice waitress who continually forgot items. My husband ordered a corned beef sandwich & received a ham sandwich -- he ate it & didn't return it to the kitchen. Women's restroom was dirty, toilet was broken. I ordered soup which arrived with no plate & the spoon in the soup.
