We did this when visitng on a cruise ship. We went out to check the crab pots first and then came back to a crab feast. And I do mean FEAST! Yummy crab! Nice salad to start the meal and wonderful cheesecake with Alaska blueberries to finish it off. The crew on the boat were friendly, and the servers in the lunch were attentive. The young lady gave us a lot of information while on the boatride, and you can hold a crab from the crab pot if you want to do so. Nice boat, comfy seats, great scenery. We saw 2 baby deer in the water near the shore as well. We lucked out with sunny weather, which made it even more enjoyable!

If you are in Ketchikan on a cruise stop or otherwise - a great excursion is the Wilderness and Exploration Crab Feed. It begins at George Inlet Lodge where passengers board a comfortable boat to go out on a beautiful sightseeing ride before pulling up crab pots. The scenery is beautiful. We saw some bald eagles flying around and some whales swimming nearby. The boat stops at a couple of crap pots and has the passengers pull them up. There is a little narration about the crabs and the passengers can even handle them. The narration is very informative, lively, and fun. After the lovely tour on the boat, the passengers are led into the lodge dining room where there is more fun ahead. When everyone is seated, the staff begin bringing out drinks and delicious salads. There is a fun presentation about the lodge and about how to eat crab legs. If you didnt know how to eat crab legs before, you sure will know the proper way after listening to the girls give the presentation! After the presentation, everyone is served fresh and delicious Alaskan dungeness crab. Delicious! If you finish your first serving, then you can have another....and another. We filled up! The staff were very attentive and fun. There is even a little contest at the end - so see if you can figure out to win! I enjoyed myself on this trip - it is great for couples, familes, or groups of friends.
